Jonathan Drouin will have wrist surgery Monday and is out indefinitely for the Montreal Canadiens, coach Claude Julien said.

The 24-year-old forward was placed on injured reserve Saturday. Though the Canadiens did not say how he sustained the injury, Drouin was shaken up after a hit by Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin at 4:14 of the game Friday at Capital One Arena. Drouin went to the locker room and Julien said he went through concussion protocol before returning for the start of the third period.

"With Drouin, we'll find out how much more damage there is," Julien said.

Julien also said that forward Paul Byron will have knee surgery Tuesday. He missed a 4-3 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday after he was injured Friday.

"With [Bryon], they're going to go in there and obviously look at his knee, and what kind of surgery I'm not sure," Julien said. "We hope by the next day or two with both surgeries we'll be able to give you a timeline. But right now, it's just a matter of seeing what comes out of it."
