I agree with Blankall though. The leanest I've ever been was on a high protein (meat) diet with a lot of high intensity lifting.

I think the biggest positive of the high meat diet, was the low carbs. I don't think there's anything especially evil about carbs, but they are a concentrated source of calories, that most people just don't need. Carbs don't provide much other nutrition other than calories, so you don't lose much by cutting down on them either.
Also, I did a sober January one year...weight melted off too. That's partially a carb thing and partially a lifestyle thing.
