still possible that it's just a strategy to pressure Bartomeu out of the club. If it is, this will turn from nightmare back to dream for Barca fans quickly.

I wonder if that Saudi takeover of Newcastle happened if Messi going there wouldn't be a forgone conclusion. You know they'd break the oil rig to make a marquee splash.

Seems like they had an emergency board meeting with potentially some members resigning and voting a non confidence in Bartomeu. So it seems like it's working.

I think we can all agree that it would be better if Bartomeu stubbornly refuses to leave, or allow Messi to leave causing him to be more disgruntled. Creating the worst possible situation for Barcelona. Yes, we can all agree.

But even if this forces Bartomeu out, they're still pretty ####ed top to bottom. Their financial problems don't just go away, their squad doesn't all of a sudden get a lot younger and less flawed, their new manager still has a mediocre track record.

yeah it doesn't solve their immediate problems, but they can't move forward as long as he's in charge. Even if Messi leaves, Bartomeu being gone would still be huge for them going forward.

I mean how can he possibly stay now? It might literally be endangering himself to try and act like he's gonna come out of this still there. Fans will be pretty enraged.

Not a huge shock, but sounds like Messi wants Man City.

However City gets him, it is assured that UEFA Fair play regulations will maintain their integrity...

Spanish football relegated to second tier status with losing Ronaldo and now Messi, not unlike Italy’s fall in the late 90s.

For anyone interested, 3 Canadian women should be involved in the semifinal for the Women's Champions League.

PSG has Ashley Lawrence and Jordyn Huitema vs Lyon with Kadeisha Buchanan.

Game is at noon on DAZN with the winner taking on Wolfsburg.

well well well ... Bartomeu has offered to resign, on the condition that Messi publicly states that he thinks that Bartomeu is the problem and why he wants to leave.

https://www.rac1.cat/esports/2020082...ssi-barca.html

have to hand it to Bartomeu, that's some nice 4D chess here.

I keep seeing that if Bartomeu resigns he will owe a huge amount personally for running up the club's debt. If that's true it seems tough to see him leaving even if he becomes the biggest villain in the history of the club.

"How will Barcelona cope without Messi??"

Um...I'd wager much like a drowning man being thrown an anchor.

It was a bad team that he dragged around behind him. Without him they're just a bad team.

Man oh man the news these days.

"Does Messi want Neymar to join him at Man City??"

Yeah, because Pep cant win without the World's most expensive All-Star team.

so it looks like Messi is staying at Barcelona after all. He doesn't want to take them to court, which would have to happen since both Barcelona and La Liga are adamant that his 700m release clause is valid. So, 2021 then.

Cynically you wonder if this whole saga hasn't just been a distraction from the 8-2 humiliation.
