Yeah, because moving in straight lines at perpendicular angles is something that is completely impossible. I mean for that to work you'd have to be on some type of grid.....

Does anyone else get kms walked just from having the game on with our moving the phone? I have 1.8 km on the egg I started this morning when I got to my office. I walked around a bit, but my distance literally goes up when I'm just sitting here.

The GPS on my phone wanders. Been averaging a km over lunch by leaving my phone on my friends desk on the 19th floor. Level 23, on my 7th 10km egg (been buying incubators).

I often get small chunks from having the game on while driving. I've driven a km to the gas station, and gotten 600 metres on my eggs.

My son and I were chatting with other father and sons/daughters at the local pokestop and this one guy said he's been taping his phone to the ceiling fan on low speed at night to hatch eggs.....
Has a game developer ever managed to make a game worse with this kind of consistency before? Just went for a walk. A pokestop near me that was located in the middle of a public city park has disappeared, and I got credit for around 3% of the actual distance I went (200 meters vs 3 km) with my phone in my hand and the app on the entire time. Cool game.

That's a waste of battery, since it takes your GPS location every few minutes and credits you for the distance between the two points.

Might be a reset thing. Occasionally the game messes up and stops showing pokestops and tracking distance properly.

I wanted to set up a model train of some sort and just have it roll back and forth in a room slowly for a few hours while I play video games or Netflix something... but damn those things are pricey.

They're definitely tweaking things and trying new things out that are messing up a few things. I concur it's annoying. Hopefully they fix it.
