Not a fan of Stewart, but I would bet the Flames pick him up for RW depth, if he drops to them.

I would play Stewart over the following bottom 6'ers:
-Hathaway
-Lazar
-Mangiapane
So yeah, I'd put in a claim.

"Yoink" - Treliving after seeing Chris Stewart's name on waivers, probably.

Cheap expiring contract and they can't even get a 7th round pick for him?

Way too slow to be of any interest

Anyone know where you can find the waiver priority order? Is it standings as of today in reverse?

Poor man’s Kane? I’d think you’d have to give him a serious look especially if Ferland is out. 9 goals in 47 games at about 11 mins a game. Nothing really to lose but a contract spot.

Chris Stewart on the bottom 6 RW is a fantastic add for this team. Literally no risk for the potential gain. He is the kind of player where when he is motivated he can make an impact, but he had zero motivation to perform where he was. I'd take the chance that this is a pissed off Chris Stewart.

I dunno he kinda has that Lucic syndrome where he's too big and the game has started to pass him by. He's listed at 242 Lbs right now and I think I'm taking Hathaway and his no stop motor over an at times lazy and slow Chris Stewart.
He doesn't hit as much as you'd like and his CF % is ticking at 5 percent lower than his career average ~ 40% (with 52 % offensive zone starts.)
I'd at least consider it because its a free asset but at the same time I'd rather role the dice on Iginla and the adrenaline he'd be running on versus a free falling Chris Stewart.

Anyone have his underlying stats? Is he a corsi nightmare or anything like that?
His scoring numbers are very 4th line (which might be fine as an upgrade on Hathaway).

I was thinking basically the same thing. No risk really and maybe he clicks with someone?
Hes cheap to pay, free to acquire and fills a hole. And if he doesnt perform its not like its a huge issue. We've been papering over the RW cracks all season, we can try and repair the position and if it doesnt work we're hardly any worse off than we were before.
I'm really not a fan of the player, but it ticks a lot of boxes...

No to Iginla. Way too old, way too slow and likely to become another Jagr. (Who, if he plays himself into shape still has an option to return.)
Possible yes to a motivated Chris Stewart (if he is motivated). Sometimes guys just get tired of being where they are - suspect this is his case.

Hathaway: 40 GP / 2 G / 8 A / 10 PTS / +5 / 68 PIMS / 110 Hits / 52.4 CF%
Stewart: 47 GP / 9 G / 4 A / 13 PTS / -1 / 27 PIMS / 37 Hits / 40.5 CF%
BIG pass on Stewart replacing Hathaway.

Canucks will be probably take him, they are ridiculously soft, so much so that they had to extend Gudbranson.
If he plays well there, Benning will probably give him a big extension.
Plus I have to think that if the Flames were interested, they would have made an offer. Even a 7th rounder would be worth more to the Wild than waivers, right?
