New iPhone 13. Cameras look pretty sweet, notch is a bit smaller. My kid should have a phone so I think I'll upgrade this year finally and pass my X to him.

I'm still rocking an X, so tomorrow morning I'll probably get up and preorder the 13 Pro. Been having ghost touch issues on my X, but that was magically cured by that security update this week.

I also have an X. Probably update to a 12 now that they are cheaper.

I have the X, too. Almost two years old. My plan is to upgrade for the camera a year from now for a major trip so I don’t have to carry my SLR and lenses.

I'm going to run my X into the ground. It was cool, because no more home button. Since then it's been nothing but "better camera" over and over. Yawn.

errrrrrmmmm hey guys, guys, about my iPhone 8.....

Any reason it would have suddenly #### the bed without warning on Monday?

Battery shows charged, then drops to 10%, kicks me off, I have to plug it in then it sometimes jumps back to 90% or it will show 15%.

Just all over the map, but it only gives me about 10mins of real world use.

PS: yes I know an 8 is old, but is does (well did) everything I needed.

Sounds like the battery needs to be replaced.

Yeah, that is really weird. I have only had problems like that while waiting outside and the phone isn’t warm. Check the battery health in settings and it should give you some information.

That's pretty well the issue with all new cell phones. Incremental battery gains, OLED screens, and better camera is about all they have to offer. I have an XR and I really don't feel the need to upgrade.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a sick phone. The fold, too, if you need the real estate. Isn't it just Apple who keeps churning out the same old phone year after year?

I'm waffling between the Pixel 6 and the Flip 3 right now. Drawback of the Flip is not-great battery life and it doesn't have the best camera. I think I can get past the plasticish screen, but I'm sure you'd have to live with it for a few months to know if you had made a mistake or not.

A flip phone with two screens would be fine for me, too, though.

I’ll probably trade in my 11 pro for the 13 pro when it goes live tomorrow. The battery upgrade is the biggest thing for me and while I planned to skip 12 anyway the lacklustre battery compared to 11 made that choice easier. Plus I hear this 5G business is pretty slick even if it does give me the Covid.

Apple's site was slow but still worked, nice job to whoever runs their website. Got an order placed for delivery on Sept 24.

My iPhone 11 Pro isn't due to go back to Rogers until April 2022 but it looks like my current per-month cost of the device is the same as the iPhone 13 Pro. I just don't find myself really missing anything that the new models are offering. Even though 5G is amazing tech, I'm a little unconvinced that I am going to miss having it until at least 2023. For someone in tech to not want the bleeding edge feels a little weird for me, but I'm kind of okay with it.

At this point I'm contemplating just buying the 11 Pro outright in the spring; it's a great device, and it'll be nice to have a ~$50/month cell phone bill. Although given the second-hand prices for iPhones on Kijiji, it might be a better idea to buy it out and sell it.

The consensus seems to be older than 11 is worth the upgrade, 11/12 not really worth.
