I don’t really hate this at all. Another big face puncher to play bottom pair right side. A good chunk of this can be buried in Stockton if need be.

Another Sutter type move

Well, just when I was thinking Brad Treliving couldn’t have a worse off-season…he goes and totally proves me wrong.

What a laughable team this is.

The team isn’t even putting on info sessions for us this year. They’re literally cowering behind their own incompetence at this stage.

I'll be honest, I don't really care how much we pay our 6/7th defencemen. $750k or $1.95m doesn't make a lot of difference. That's unused cap space that wasn't going to be utilized elsewhere and I don't see any scenario where we need that extra space at the deadline. Next window for the team to need that cap space is next summer and it'll be off the books by then. Overpay, underpay, market pay, it makes no real difference.

What is disappointing is that Guddy is probably going to not play very well, even in a depth role.

It's kind of funny/sad to see all that optimism from the Darryl signing go right out the window. Not me though. I'm steady as she goes. Steady pessimism that is. Darryl is going to bring this team to new lows.

If we're going in this direction, then it better be Bedard.

Maybe we get the next Crosby/Malkin tandem.

Like, I actually haven't been this perplexed by an offseason's direction since Darryl was GM, and my gut tells me that's no coincidence.
Treliving has always valued these types of players. He paid a premium to get Bollig and Engelland right off the bat when he became GM. Every offseason he brings in someone tough who isn’t good. Prout, Glass, Rinaldo etc

Darryl wasn’t even in the room during the draft. If he was “calling the shots” he would have been there during the most important time of the offseason, when most trades happen. The draft is definitely not day to day stuff

Really? I can think of many scenarios we will need 1.3 million in cap space at the deadline.

So his previous contracts were:
4.5M
3.0M

The guy was making pretty good money.

Ya pretty much every year he does this, either in the summer or TDL.

Only odd thing about this is its not league minimum. I think Stone is better

I know we've been saying the off season isn't over yet, but uh, can it be done now?

Haha, I wouldn't have paid that price either.

I would have looked elsewhere.

What's Dalton Prout up to these days?

Got to spend right to the cap, so best find some manure to fill out the roster with.

We need as little cap flexibility mid-season as possible!

Well it seems to have aged decently, unlike Tre who is living in the stoneage and giving out contracts like it's halloween to people who are basically the least deserving in the league. Especially in light of just having signed Zadorov
