Watching the Women's Duet Artistic Swimming and holy s*** if that isn't one of the coolest, most physically demanding sports I've ever seen

The women’s discus was making me so angry. Feel bad for the ladies that were forced to go in the rain before it was finally postponed.

Sifan Hassan who fell in her 1500m heat last evening won the gold medal in the Women’s 5000m race this morning.

Tension and release.

When there's more buildup, the release of tension is stronger.

When the goals are few, the goals matter. When the shots are few, a great shot on net is an accomplishment.

One would expect hockey fans to overlap significantly with soccer fans, as they are similarly low-scoring games.

That’s the beauty of sports. Beating a rival on the field when stakes are the highest.

Finally got to watching the replay (watched from just before the Penalty call), the US generates essentially zero dangerous chances. They just couldn't get anywhere near a dangerous position.

The most dangerous was probably the header off of the bar - but that one would have been saved had it been lower.

Other than that, it was a couple of slower shots right at Labbe.

The penalty was absolutely the right call, but its a weird one, as had there been no VAR, it probably gets missed, and likely noone would have ever complained that it was missed. It didn't look like any players on the field were complaining.

Great game from the women.

The long jump is one thing but who created the triple jump? That's just goofy. Why not have a 10 jump competition?
