Oooh yeah, that's also a good candidate. Probably more fitting than the Spurs, but I just really hate the Spurs.

Yeah, ever since his moon days it was Flames, Tottenham, Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Got eyes on Tij Iginla tonight. He is shifty and looked dangerous a few times, but didn't drive play or dominate in a losing effort for the visiting Rockets.

Blazers got a rare home win, and looked the best I've seen them this year. They went into the 3rd up 3-0 and held on for the 3-2 win.

Happy holidays everyone!

Smaht Scouting (a fairly small hockey consultation group) has listed Tij Iginla at 15 in their preliminary draft ranking.

Here's their read on him:
Quote:
Tij Iginla can be very tenacious in his pursuit of the puck in the offensive zone. Similarly to [Luke] Misa, he looks to pray (sic) on the vulnerable and does a great job of stick lifting and poke checking to cause disruption in puck possession. Iginla does well at feathering passes in tight and does a good job with puck security when being pursued by multiple attackers at close proximity. He’s got a good shot especially from range. But, should he be leading the rush he’ll love to attempt wrap-around shots. Iginla has second line upside and could be deployed at center or wing without losing a step.

42 points (25 goals) in 33 games, pretty impressive for a guy playing on a team ranked 7th in the West, and 15 overall in a 22-team league- although he does play with Andrew Cristall.

Should the Flames ever draft Tij or Joe I'm sure the very normal and not at all broken Flames fanbase will have nothing but realistic expectations for them.

Yeah the 20 or so nut jobs on this board will really dampen the pro athlete millionaire experience, I’m sure.

It's not just the board. Ask Jonthan Huberdeau how he's feeling.

I bet 80% of Calgarians don’t even know what he looks like.

If I ever meet him I’ll ask, but I’m sure he’ll tell me he is great and that unhappy fans go with the territory.

This is the weirdest take on the San Antonio Spurs I've ever seen lol

I'm not sure what makes any of them more arrogant than any other NBA player, and I'd personally argue that they seemed significantly less so. I can see them being unlikeable if you're a rival fan, that's just how sports works. Cheating....you'd have to explain that one.

The media point is funny, because I distinctly remember them consistently being ignored, even though they won a lot. The media would say "oh they're done for sure now" and then they'd go and win another 60 games. Quite the opposite of the Oilers getting fawned over every year and then crapping the bed.

Also, the Spurs actually won something in the last 30 years, which doesn't sound very Oilers-esque to me!

My brother and nephew attended last night’s game between the Rockets and Hitmen, and they came away with absolutely glowing reports about Baby Iggy. Despite being outscored by Cristall (3g,1a) and Gabriel Szturc (2g,2a), they said Tij (2a) was the most noticeable player on the ice, and could’ve had 4 goals. They said he was everywhere….

He was noticable after the first. His board play on the one goal was excellent. I was surprised he only had 2a in the game as he was active on several plays.

Tij Iginla on the cusp of being a top 10 North American draft prospect

The Kelowna Rockets and other local clubs/skaters are well-represented in the latest rankings released by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau for North American skaters.
...
Nearing the top of the North American list is Kelowna Rocket standout and Lake Country native Tij Iginla, who is ranked 11th overall.
https://www.kelownanow.com/watercool...aft_prospects/

i was at a rockets game a couple nights ago. iginla didn't score, but man... his release is insane!!!

Looks like he could end up going in the range of Calgary's 1st pick at this point. This place could be very fun leading up to and following the draft, regardless if Calgary drafts him.

I haven't seen him play but his jump in production after being moved to play with a guy like Cristall would be very concerning for me.

Perhaps he doesn't play on his line and is doing this all on his own, but nervous that he didn't do anything impressive before this and then all of sudden jumps up when playing with a guy that would make anyone look good.
