I mean... I get it. I actually get it. If you can't stay healthy enough to make it through a push, why are they going to push you? They've tried two or three times with Harper and it ended prematurely each time.

On the other hand, Curt Hawkins and Zak Ryder have the tag team belts - two guys who are significantly less over with the fans than Harper is, so anything can happen in Vince's crazy mind.

Yeah I'm not saying that Vince is wrong for having that mindset- just stating that it seems to be what happened to Harper.

Finn Balor has dealt with it too. Getting hurt the night he won the Universal Championship ended his mega push, and he hasn't really been trusted at the main event level since.

Been more in the upper mid-card in the IC title picture since his return.

Part of being pushed to a main event talent in the WWE is being able to show up every night and not deal with too many injuries.

Seems like Alexander Wolfe is now done with WWE.

https://twitter.com/TheWWEWolfe/stat...13136996724737

Met him during the Royal Rumble weekend at a vegan restaurant in Phoenix. Such a nice guy, I wish nothing but the best for him.

Bayley was shuffled off to Smackdown which leads to the rumors of her and Sasha having a meltdown back stage at wrestlemania and Sasha wanting to quit.

I think that Bayley does need to go on her own and stop being in Banks shadow. Liv Morgan was also moved over to Smackdown breaking up the Riott Squad.

With the Rock arrived in town filming a movie (check his Instagram) , as good a place as any to put a perfect clip which epitomized the Attitude era in 10 minutes, minus the t and a.

Loud crowd pop, as if it surprised everyone, and back in those days, it did, there wasn't the same leaked info there seems to be now.
The McMahons involved in ring.
Ross on point, Lawler a great heel.
Shane the semi heel.
The Rock doesn't go into his over clichéd juvenile stuff as much as he did later, and, as he does when he makes his appearances now, just a good solid promo.

His best promo work still imo is just after he left the NOD back in the mid 90s. Before he became a face and before he got into some of the silly stuff like singing and "this is your life".

Happy to see Chad Gable on his own. No chemistry with Booby Roode IMO. Both need a repackaging. Would have been so easy to get Gable over with Angle anointing him his spiritual successor in the ring in front of the post-Wrestlemania crowd.

Why is Bobby Roode a face? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

He's a natural heel, was in the indies, was in my backyard, was in NXT, and now that's he's on the main roster, face?

Ugh.

Hahaha well not my physical back yard, Bobby got his start working the indies in Atlantic Canada. Saw him every Sunday at the North Sydney Forum where he was a member of the Kardinal Sinners stable (of note another Kardinal Sinner, Brody Steele was the main heel who wrestled The Great Khali during the 100,000 person shows over in India).

Anyone with the WWE Network needs to watch tonight's NXT that Dream Murphy matchup, wow.

Dream is just a star, its hard to believe that he lost tough enough to a guy that didn't do anything.

Watched it last night, that match was terrific. Murphy is so damn good in the ring. This match indirectly gave 205 Live lots of credibility, IMO.

Kind of cool, the network uploaded a ton of Mid South Wrestling.

Mid South was one of the more well known independent circuits in the early 80's.

The first episode featured the likes of JYD, The Rock and Roll Express, Nicholei Volkoff. The Rock and Roll express and Magnum TA who probably would have been huge in the industry if he hadn't been in a career ending car accident. It also featured a young Jim Ross.

Worth a watch for any wrestling fan.

Its funny watching the idea of the high flying fan favorite and comparing it to the athletes of today. The finishing move for the Rock and Roll express was a simple double drop kick.

And yet, as great as the athletes are today (no question their athleticism is head and shoulders from the past, not to mention the speed they perform at), they don’t seem to have the charisma and storytelling ability of the wrestlers of the past. I also find that very few wrestlers today have “the look”. Something about the long hair of the 80’s and 90’s that just screams wrestling.

Its funny because Mid South TV followed the WWF formula of the 80's. For the most part it was a showcase for the stars to build interest for house shows where they made their money.

So you'd see a lot of Stars beating up jobbers. A backstage segment to build a feud and a lot of commercials.

"Volkoff, I'm coming to the South Bend Armory to beat you up for kicking my dog on Friday night"

Then 10 minutes later

Volkoff I'm coming to The Sam Denucio high school gym on Saturday night to beat you up for kicking my dog, and this won't be televised so fans shouldn't miss it"

The funny thing was that some of the Mid South jobbers were guys that I saw on Maple Leaf Wrestling taking a beating from Stars.

What was really interesting is there were guys that worked really stiff with these jobbers. Ricky Morton full on punched poor Pat Rose in the face and probably loosened all of his teeth.

The other thing that was hilarious back then is they really played up the evil foreign stereo type. Barefoot japanese wrestlers doing sumo moves and throwing salt in the eyes.

Russians stumbling through the national anthem and yelling about conqouring the weak Americans.

It was way more theatrical for sure.

They played a Rock and Roll express coming to town promo on these two guys driving into a town in a corvette wearing matching T-Shirts getting mauled by Southern woman on the way to the ring and giving the camera thumbs up and devil horns.

Its why South Paw Regional Wrestling was so brilliant.
