What really impressed me this game was the strength of the back check through the neutral zone. Such a drastic difference from last year its hard to believe. Hathaway seemed to have a strong game tonight. The depth of this team is showing.

Solid win. I really like Hamonic this season. He’s a different player.

Game takes:
- Hamonic superb.
- Rittich fabulous.
- First line good early, too cute late.
- PK showed the refs.
- Backlund is nowhere close to being Michel Petit.

Hamonic, Rittich, Bennett, Anderrson all excellent. Bennett just bites away all game under the radar.

It was a muck it up kind of game, no surprise our muck it up players had a great night. Hamonic, Hathaway, Bennett were all really strong.

You know, if we can pull out a road win with our top line playing like that, I think this team might have something.
Also, Rittich for mayor! Nobody likes Nenshi! Woot!!

Tough game -- not the most exciting, but what a hard-fought battle. Thought both teams were using their strengths - Flames speed, and managed to be physical "enough" to combat the weight of the Kings.
Loved seeing Ritter get the SO. Gotta be a confidence-builder for him.

Statement game from Rittich. With all the angst about our goaltending, he responds with a SHUTOUT. Pressure? What pressure?
Unfortunate it was so close at the end but you take the two points every time.
Hrudey thinks you should reconsider Smith starting tomorrow...

that was not a pretty game, but they got it done. it so happens that these games are easier when your goalie isn't rocking a league worst save percentage. hamonic with what might be his best game as a flame. man is he ever good this season.
czarnik is so good at finding space, passing seams, and putting his teammates in advantageous positions. i'm really impressed with him. bennett a strong game too. not a very exciting night for most of the rest of the team, though i thought they were unlucky not to get a second goal. hanifin notably poor.
please start rittich tomorrow!!! smith in against sj is shooting yourself in the foot

Awesome win!! Hammer, Hathaway and Rittich with great games all around. That was a fun game to watch, a lot like a playoff game. The refs were decent tonight, appreciate that they let them play and play hard.
Suck it Kings!

I'm one that usually subscribes to the idea that modern defensemen need to offer more in transition and offense but there's something to be said about having a guy like Hamonic who just looks every bit reliable and dependable in the defensive zone.

Like I said in the GT, I thought the first line was very good in the first period. Plenty of chances, and they were stopped by good goaltending (I thought Campbell was good) and a collapsing D.
They maybe overpassed later, but that's the style of that line and you can't really argue with their success this year.

I think you gotta go back to Rittich. They did the same for Smith earlier this year IIRC, he played back to back when Rittich was slated to get the next start.
Go with the hot hand while you can.
