it's about time Phil showed up.

Are the Capitals the most boring team ever? 6.38% on the PP, 94.87% on the PK. 2.29 goals per game, 1.57 against. Lowest hits/game.

Philly beats Tampa and the Isles win. An interesting day, to be sure. Eric Staal continues to be white-hot.

AA Ron Dell is the #1 star and scrubs get it done vs the Oilers. Winning is fun.

Ah yes the age old strategy of giving up 4 goals in the 3rd period and winning it in overtime, my specialty.

You really think changing your lines would have made a difference?

With all due respect you keep saying this but why do you believe that?

And I don't want this to sound harsh, but I'm sincerely trying to understand
- Your forward group has some good depth but lacks a true elite player. I like the depth but not the top end as much

- Similarly your blueline group is good. Klingberg is probably your #1 which is good. But there is a drop off after him, Parayko and Leddy.

- Goaltending lacks an elite #1

What I see is a team with good depth and solid players across the board, but a lack of truly elite talent.

Looking at team stats you aren't generating enough shots, which suggests that indeed could be the problem.

Am i off base?

Not on the goaltender part but I think forward and d wise yes

Karlsson rated top 10 forward is not elite at 80 OV
Here’s my forward ratings of the top of my head
78-80-77
74-76-76
74-74-72
70-68-69

There’s not really a drop off after my top 3 as Schmidt has the same rating as Leddy.

76-75
74-74
72-72

I don’t have the same amount of elite players as you do but i got 1st line talent on my 3rd line and my 2nd pairing would be an average top d pairing

It’s not the fact that I’m not in 1st place, it’s more the fact that I can’t win one game and get in the playoffs, when in the past, I’ve had solid but not as good teams that easily make the playoffs

Looks like you don't adjust scoring/defense/hitting sliders for your lines? I think that is a help and hindrance as well.

I did for all the games except this last one. I changed them back to the default ones because they worked with my average teams in the past

your team is just too good. Give me your good players for crappy players and you will be 1st place in no time.

part of it could be you don't have the right combination of players. OVR is just an aggregate score but what really matters is the specific attributes and how they work together.
You need someone to get the puck (high CHK rating) someone to pass the puck (high PA rating) and someone to score (high SC rating).

That's a over simplistic view, but the attributes are the key. Not OVR

Bernier in net, Schwartz and Hayes still out, and Matthews limping his way back into the lineup with 4th line minutes. We expected a big loss against the Lightning but are happy to steal the points.
