I pay $40 for swaps every November & April, its convenient and cheap.

I could give a flip if you decide to put your winters on steelies or gold colored Chinese wheels. Same as I could care less if you are a middle-aged man driving a Miata or a minivan, more power to you.

There are snobs in every thread (and one troll)

I'm assuming you mean, you couldn't give a flip and you couldn't care less.

Who's trolling?

Where do you pay 40 for a swap?

Pay to swap wheels? Inconceivable.

Haha I think that's bait, but I respect the effort to try to rile someone up. Love me a good forum freakout as well.

You can tell who has steelies on their car.

And they’ve convinced me, I’m going to go with steelies for my summers too.

I can’t believe someone compared steelies to Walmart jeans as a means of defending steelies.

This thread is hilarious with attacks and jokes. Great entertainment!

My two cents
My method on all my vehicles has always been to buy aftermarket rims and good tires for the spring summer fall seasons and then put winters on my stock rims. I have done it no other way for the last 20 years. This way I am happiest with my car and it’s looks when I enjoy driving.

Steelies Have their place but there is a reason cars don’t come with them anymore and looks aren’t the only thing driving that decision (because hub caps still exist). Steel rims weigh more, this puts more strain on your suspension and other areas of your vehicle (unsprung weight might lower your Center of gravity but agility takes a #### kicking) and also contributes to worse performance due to said weight. A large number of vehicles with 4 piston brakes can’t even use steel wheels and a general rule of thumb is that if your vehicle didn’t come with steel rims you shouldn’t put steel rims on. Yes steel can take a beating over alloy but that advantage will not outweigh the many cons.

At the end of the day, it's everyone's personal opinion and I really don't care if people rock steel rims. But as a guy who has had them before, I'm gonna have to agree with Sliver. For me, cheap rims are still better than steelies. My preference is to spend a bit more and just at least some sort of cheap rims for winter rather than steelies.

Winter is too long here to roll with steelies IMO.

Nothing wrong with steel wheels and no they don't automatically hit the calipers compared to alloys. Best thing is to try and find used alloys made in Japan. Acura, Lexus, Infiniti etc. make nice ones in various sizes.

I don’t think anyone said they automatically hit the calipers (unless I missed the post) but offset is very important for steel rims to ensure the back spacing is correct for your car.

I would agree nothing is wrong with steel rims short term but with our winters and driving on them for half the year on a newer vehicle not made for that unsprung weight is asking for unnecessary suspension wear, break pad wear and personal feelings wear (because your vehicle looks like ####)

Sorry to be the one to bump this post but I need some help.

New truck, 2017 Titan, of course, which currently has 275/60R20 tires. I have a set of Blizzaks, not on steelies by the way, which are 265/70R18.

Can I put these on my truck? How do I figure out if they do fit?

Thanks.

Check Titan forums would be my suggestion. There will be people there that have figured out what works on that vehicle. I would imagine that 18s would fit, but you'd need to confirm the offset of your other wheels, along with bolt pattern and hub bore.
