There are a bunch from Network that are at the top of the list.
I guess the last one's not really a monologue, but... whatever.

IMO, the best character to appear on television. Trying to narrow it down was tough, but I tried to adhere to the definition of monologue as best I could.

I'll actually throw this one in as a departure from the norm.
The first time that I watched this movie, it wasn't my favorite. I had to grow into my appreciation, by the second time I watched it, and understood that it really wasn't a war movie. With my expectations altered, I could really sit back and enjoy the way that it was put together.
Here, the speech is drawn out. It's not lengthy. But the overall impression is due to the silences that are allowed between the words, and a perfect delivery and acceptance by the listening actor.
Terrance Malick lost his mind soon after this, which is the only explanation I can come up with for Tree of Life, but this is so finely crafted, from the Hans Zimmer score to the John Toll cinematography.

Loving this thread. Missing maybe the best ever comedy monologue though. If you watch the behind the scenes videos, this wasn’t even in the original script. Larry David wrote it in 10 minutes during filming and they shot it in one take having never rehearsed it. Brilliant.
Alright, if we're going to do the #1 seinfeld monologue, we have to go #2.
I was going to try to keep all of my contributions movies only, but now that's riiiiiiight, out the window.

A couple of Star Wars ones that I just love, and sometimes that we forget that there were really some outstanding performances in the first 6 movies.
Obi-Wan's dark times speech broke down the whole universe in a few short minutes. We learned the history of the Jedi, the Rise of the empire and the history and lie that was darth Vader
Or and Palpatine and the tale of Darth Plagueis the Wise. Such an enthralling scene and you could see the wheels turning in Anakin's head.
