NHL projects salary cap to rise from $81.5mil to $84 mil-$88.2 mil
Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#NHL cap projection for 2020-21: $84 to $88.2 million, up from current $81.5 million, but it’s dependent on negotiations with NHLPA.

If cap jumps that much it will be crazy contracts for UFAs this off season.
Im annoyed it will let many of the cap foolish teams off the hook. 8 year over priced contracts signed a couple years ago will look good now.

Presumably, that's $84 million without the escalator and $88.2 with, so it will be closer to the $84 million end of the spectrum to keep escrow down.

Get us more space to sign Hall. Hopefully not enough space for the Oilers to become a player in that race.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Daly also revealed that in CBA negotiations with the NHLPA there has been talk of creating a multi year salary cap number(s) in order to provide more stability and allow teams to better plan ahead....

This makes sense.
Take the upper end, $88.2M, and lock it in for 2 years. Once those 2 years are up, the new TV deal will be in place and then look to lock in for another 2-3 years at a new number.

That pics back from when he was on NJD and here in November. Guy had it up on the glass and at the beginning of the second period Hall skated over and gave him a nod. I pulled out the camera right after. It’s no Orange Julius rumour was just pretty funny.

I feel like Edmonton's target should be Pietrangelo.

I bet Hall felt sorry for him and was trying to be nice.

The Flames are going to sign Hall and force 3 #1 LWers into 2 lines. It's so crazy it just might work...

If only we could get Arizona to play him at RW for the rest of the season to get him ready.

Don't forget about Andrew Mangiapane!
I actually think (hope) Hall signing here would give us our version of the "HBK" line.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Mangiapane - Backlund - Tkachuk
Hall - Dube - Bennett
Then those 3 lines get equal 5v5 minutes, and Hall gets PP1 time. Enough depth to actually ice 3 scoring lines - my goodness, what it must be like to cheer for a team with Championship-quality depth.
Or go even crazier
Hall - Lindholm - Gaudreau
Mangiapane - Backlund - Tkachuk
Dube - Monahan - Bennett

I’m If I was the GM of an NHL team, I would not pay ing Hall $8M to play on the third line, and Dube/Bennett playing the same number of minutes as Gaudreau/Monahan/Lindholm/Tkachuck is probably not the best use of our ice time.
