My brother phoned last night to say he was flying home from Minnesota to spend a week with me and mother. He also said his wife told him he should stay for a week. I think they were getting on each others nerves

Randomly looked at the sky this morning while at the bus stop and saw the ISS go flying over. Took some of the sting out of going to work.

Weird to be posting in this thread with what's going on out there, but it's a good story.

WRMMH right now is it appears that Mrs Puppet has found her birth father.

Mrs Puppet was adopted right after birth and there was non-disclosing information re: her biological parents, and thus it's been a mystery forever. A few months ago she signed up with Ancestry and sent in her samples. A week ago she got her info back, along with email info about potential matches. Well, it looks like she's found her family. Still some steps to take, but it's looking good.

Very cool. It might be a crazy journey. I have a close friend in the same sort of situation, but he does not want to find his birth parents. He goes on and on about how they didn’t want him. Worst case scenario he’s been right all along, but there may have been things at play he doesn’t know about. I honestly can’t give advice not being in that situation, but I think I would want to know more.

Right now she's doing all her communicating with a first cousin. This cousin has spoken with the father, and he's very open to further communication when Mrs Puppet is ready. I guess Mrs Puppet's role as the "phantom cousin/lost sibling" hasn't been a secret to her dad's family and it's caused a huge ripple of excitement since contact's been made. This'll be a process for the principal actors, but so far it seems like far more a positive than a stressor.

I was going to post a reply to peter12 but. . . I will be fully employed through this craziness. Hard to feel happy though with so many others losing their employment.

Congratulations to her! This was me, 2 years ago, minus using Ancestry's DNA service. It's a very weird mix of emotions.

Think of it this way. The less businesses that have to screech to a halt, the less drag on the government, and the more financial support for those who cannot work through this pandemic.

Just heard on the radio the Smiths perform Ask, live in London 1986. That was a mood lifter!

A buddy of mine in PEI has had a pretty rough go of things health-wise for the past few years, and he's been down even before the pandemic started. He's kind of an unofficial mascot for the Charlottetown Islanders and his issues have prevented him from doing his thing at games. I painted up a picture of him in his regalia over the weekend intending to send it to him, but things being what they are I probably won't be able to get it to him for a while. I just sent him a photo of the painting, and it's apparently made him the happiest guy in the world today. I'm happy I changed his mood in a rough time.

My daughter got her learner's license last night. I'm so happy about that and she's so excited. We went driving for the first time right after she got it. It was so much freaking fun. Going again tonight after work and I can't wait. She simultaneously looks so grown up and still like her little baby self. Such a trip to see her behind the wheel of car.

They caught the guy who killed my brother 5 years ago...some guy from Vancouver. His trial starts in 16 weeks...1rst degree murder charge. So I guess I'm happy about that. Although the trial and hopefully sentence will be a bit stressful. I'm pretty good at keeping myself out of it. Whatever happens happens. Life does go on.

This kind of ties in to the weather thread and Spring (or the lack thereof).

Robins. On the weekend we saw the first Robin this year. Yesterday there were two in our front yard tree. This afternoon there have been an bird explosion it seems. I counted twenty in one tree, 10 out front, and a bunch more in the neighbors trees. It's a regular Robin party going on outside.

If Robins are considered a sign of spring then I'll take this as a good sign. And it makes me happy.

Facepalm moment, our two might hunters (cats) have spent the afternoon sleeping and are missing the entire thing. This is after they spent the morning staring out the windows at nothing for several hours.

I made a pretty low rent green screen that is going to entertain the hell out of me during our next conference call for work.
