Mavila with a seeing eye cross!

Terrible goalkeeping!

I'm just going to assume Mavila meant to curl that over the keeper, and that it wasn't a failed cross meant for Haber. I'll take it!

Great save Nico! Thought there was a foul in the buildup but what a great diving save off the header

I think HFX are good enough to make the final 4. Seem to be the most consistent of the non Cavalry / Forge sides.

Good win for the Cavs. I thought they could’ve been a little more clinical and that could’ve been an easier win. I don’t think that should’ve been a penalty on Wheeldon at the end, as I don’t think that was in the box, but whatever.

To me, I also though that Northover looked really good out there and did some good things.

The end of that game was nervier than it needed to be, but another 3 points, and back to the top of the table.

Haber had a typical Haber game. Goal called off to a foul, got in some good positions, very wasteful in the box. Decent for a last minute emergency pickup but just not that great.

HFX are a much improved side from last year. Good to see. I've always been a fan of Stephen Hart. He's given a lot to Canadian soccer.

Brown stepping on the ball with an open net is almost inexcusable. I'm glad he got another to atone for that at least.

Let's play a game called "How many goals can Cavalry spot Ottawa and still win". I think 3.

Ratings for the CBC games last weekend were comparable to MLS.

You can throw a couple thousand views for OneSoccer on top of that. That's a surprisingly good number for CPL.

Mediapro announces that CPL games will be broadcast on Fox Sports 2. Apparently the Pacific / York game was the highest rated broadcast for the entire day.

https://mediaprocanada.tv/en/news/ca...orts_in_the_us

Quote:
A total of 23 first-stage games will be broadcast across FS2 and Fox Soccer Plus, with live coverage beginning last week. The first game, the fixture between Pacific FC and York9 FC, was the highest-rated program of the day on FS2.

Further coverage on the two channels will be announced as the tournament moves towards the playoff stage, from September 9th - 17th, with the grand final airing on September 19th.

In other good news, Forge lost to York 9 today. Not that it really matters, but a win tomorrow night would essentially mean Cavalry top yet another table. Ho hum.

Good for the CPL to get on a “physical network” as far as not just online, and all that and the more eyes the better (thought I saw something about broadcasting to Africa too) to expand audiences and hopefully the revenue base down the road, but a perusal of the FS2 lineup for today has:

Cliff Diving X 5
Horse racing for 3h
3 boxing matches from previous years, with boxers no one has heard of, each shown twice
Poker X 3
Halifax Edmonton CPL Game
Aussie Rules Football as the only presumably other live event (at 3am)

so the claim of being the highest rated program for the day is a low bar indeed.

Yeah, and the CPL beat the #### out of all of them. Well done!

No Cordova or Hernandez on the sub list again.

At this point I don't think we'll see Cordova at all, which is too bad as he was rated fairly high by pundits coming into the season.

I won't be home until 7:00 pm tonight. What are the chances Onesocccer will have the game available for viewing by then?

I think they are saving Cordova for the next round. No reason to risk further injury when they have essentially qualified for the next round, unless it's to give him 30 minutes in a meaningless game next weekend.
