I am very pro LGBTQ+, but this makes no damn sense. The Flames have had the National and Provincial flags, they represent everyone, including the LGBTQ+ community. Putting the Flag of just one special interest group would be an absolutely terrible idea and would do more to divide people than bring them together.

I have to assume adding a LGBTQ flag on the jersey is some weird joke. What a horrific idea.

Please no more flags. They have no place on a jersey, especially an LGBTQ flag.

I think this is the main problem with the idea.
If you do this, how about racial justice problems? Gender? Disability? The environment? Cancer? The military?

It's probably a better idea to support various causes rather than just putting one at the forefront.

I would rather the Flames donate $1 million to support at-risk and marginalized LGBTQ+ youth and adults in the city than doing something as performative and relatively meaningless as slapping a tiny rainbow flag on their uniforms and calling it a day.

Although I would love to see an entirely rainbow-based Flames jersey worn during warmups and auctioned off to support LGBTQ+ intiatives. That would be awesome. But it would have to be part of a larger initiative. Definitely not the equivocating #WeSkateFor thing.

Since the Flames are a hockey team I think it makes the most sense to promote the game. Support the LGBT hockey league. Donate money to help underprivileged minority children play and learn hockey. Stuff like that is really cool.

Adding a rainbow flag to the jersey is stupid and hollow. It accomplishes nothing and ruins a perfectly good jersey. Not to mention it comes across as incredibly pretentious.

I think that post is a troll though. No way someone actually thinks that’s a good idea.

With that being said I am all for inclusion and having the Flames do more for underrepresented groups in our community. Adding the rainbow flag to the jersey is not the ticket though. There are much more effective avenues to go down than that.
I'd like to see a shoulder patch again. Sometime.

Yeah... those are beautiful and all, but teams wear that patch on their chest now.

I once joked the Flames jersey needed even more flags and they should include the flag of every player’s nationality. Maybe that could be taken further adding the pride flag and others, including, my personal choice, that version of the Canada flag with the maple leaf replaced with a marijuana leaf. The goal is to have so many flags the jersey is barely visible save the logo and numbers.

Seriously though really looking forward to the jersey announcement.

Nope, made it worse.

The retros are perfect when they're clean. The extra patches look bad.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I think I hate the piping and side stripes more than the flags.

They need to save the shoulder area for the Flames logo when they place the Scotiabank logo front and center on the jersey in a few years.

This organization’s unwillingness to wear its own colours is fascinating.

They won a Stanley Cup in these things.

They faced down the Gretzky Oilers in them.

They’re our jerseys, and they’ve been reduced to a novelty for 25 years.

Imagine Montreal doing that. Or Detroit.

Instead, they’ve been married to the same awful design concepts of the RBK Edge since 2007, even though Reebok hasn’t made the sweaters for three or four years.

Glad they’re full time now.

For the alternate, either bring back Rapidash or use the 2004 reds.

Oh, and bring back the wool socks.

These should have been the home jerseys right from the start. I mean, they're gold after all.
