Calgary regulation win pushes the playoff needle up 10 points to 76.2, and drops AZ 7 points to 31.6.
AZ regulation win, and the odds are 52.8 vs. 56.3 (CGY/AZ).
So, this is a big game.

Hope we can carry the momentum for the third period/OT against Columbus. Arizona probably won't give us too much either, so they need to stay disciplined, not make mistakes/turnovers, and capitalize when they can by getting pucks on net.
Flames hang on for a 2-1 win. Talbot makes it three in row.

Only 3 games in a row, but I think its telling. This team wanted (wants) Rittich to be the guy but he isn't being handed this chance now during crunch time with these crucial games.

Honestly, I really like Rittich and I want him to grow up to the occasion and become a true bona fide starter goalie... but... even more than that, I want Talbot to re-gain his hotness and steal the show now, to make Oilers' fans drown in their jealousy and spite...

Since being dealt to Arizona, Darcy Kuemper has played two games against the Flames.
He's 2-0-0 with a 1.000 SV% and, yes, two shutouts in those games.

If Arizona is going to collapse like Columbus and crowd the home plate area then the Flames need to bail on the cross ice pretty passing plays and just hammer some pucks at the net and looks for greasy goals or deflections.
It's either that or generate offense on the rush before AZ gets their defensive positioning, but that's not something we have been good at this year.

Krahn had an interesting point on 960 earlier this week. By not simply giving the net back to Rittich (like they have all season), it might light a bit of a fire under him to play well when he finally gets his chance. Not that Rittich needs necessarily needs the extra motivation, but part of his development is to not let the other guy take your net if you want it.

AZ doesn't give up much and plays a tight defensive system. Flames will need to play a full 60+ game to get a crucial win here.

Yes. Definitely, a shutout for Kuemper. Definitely.

Derek Wills mentioned on his morning spot that in the Columbus game the Flames started shooting a tonne of pucks intentionally wide as a way to break through the net-front congestion. It worked quite well.
