Default Police car stolen from southwest Calgary

Notable perhaps because my car was hit by an unmarked Titan as he boxed in the stolen car in the SAIT parkade. My car is just off to the right of the frame. Just a minor crack in the bumper. CPS is saying it wasn't them, which is cool.

That sucks. Wouldn't the Titan have dashcam footage to prove it wasn't them?

I dunno. It was all plain clothes guys and not even unmarked, like straight up ghost cars like gang unit guys or whatever. That's what was confusing, when I got there it looked like a pile up of 6 normal cars and a police car sandwiched in the middle. I think I saw a cam in that unmarked Chevy. Tons of cameras in the parkade, security is gonna call me tomorrow.

CPS plain clothes surveillance team - they are called in to follow in situations like this.

Media was already there when I came out. Couple guys in balaclavas came to talk to me about my car... then I realized why they were hiding their faces.

That would scare the hell out of me. Like the bad guys were finally winning, and you're in the thick of it.

About the only thing I've taken from this (besides your unfortunate luck Acey, sorry to hear it!) is that CPS has unmarked crapbox Titans?!

I think it was a complete gang unit vehicle. Zero lights or any police related thing on it.

They aren't for pulling people over, they do covert surveillance - so it could be any random car on the street to blend in.

Yeah I’ve seen these teams roll in Calgary & Toronto. Scary when it’s happening because there are no police markings in sight, and they are never the same as the fleet vehicles.

I know the Suburban isn't exactly covert, but man, the cops are pretty good at hiding in plain sight. About 10 years ago I was at a bar on 8th ave and we decided to go somewhere else. I snuck my beer out of the bar and then took a swig while standing on the street, right next to this Suburban with a couple of dudes sitting in it. They looked like a couple of guys with a nice truck, just parked and about to go to the bar. Totally did not ping my cop radar at all.

Anyway, the passenger got out, opened his leather jacket, flashed his badge, and pointed to the garbage can. Sir, yes sir.

Man, you aint kidding. Just on my way back from lunch today and I see a car pulled over. The vehicle that pulled IT over looked exactly like a contractors tuck, complete with some company name on the side but had the hidden emergency lights all over it. Dood that got out was dressed in jean, work boots and a hoody under a flannel shirty. Was really quite an eye opener.

The old anti-beverage team.

I imagine they were working with gang suppression?

The Aviation Safety guys at Pearson (the cops on the airfield) have an unmarked car that looks exactly like an Airport maintenance vehicle, which are all orange pick up trucks. They've nabbed so many guys in that thing and it's tricked out with the light bars in the grille and everything. The only reason I knew who it was when I saw it was i knew the driver personally.
