Parade organizers complicit. "It snuck in" while being here in the staging area. Uh huh.

Majority of it was not racist, just a couple bad apples.

You're going to judge an entire group off one racist?

The racist individual had nothing to do with the event!

It was obviously a plant by the NDP and Liberals.

The phrase bad apples spoil the bunch is hilariously misused now as it’s just a few bad apples so don’t worry about it.

The idiom originally means that if you don’t deal with the bat apples the whole crop will rot. It is a surprisingly apt description and so ironic when people use it to excuse the bunch.

A bit off Color…but not racist.

Leave it up to politicians and special interest groups to manufacture outrage when there isn’t any.
I wonder why they went to such lengths to hide their faces?

If the manure spreader says 'The Liberal' on it, then shouldn't it be Trudeau back there? Why have someone dressed up like that at all?

He’s supposed to be dressed up like Singh, according to the FB comments.

Well done, Sundre. You've made terrific strides in improving the public perception of rural Alberta.

I know you were playing up the stereotypes, but these guys kind of nailed all three didn't they? I mean, I don't know their education levels, but if they're dumb enough to do something like this I have to question their intelligence.

These guys in Sundre don't explicitly state their party of choice, but it's certainly not the Liberals or NDP. Doubtful its the Green Party either.

Right or wrong, its instances like this (among other things) that tarnish the Conservative brand. Pretty easy to understand why some might be less willing to support a party when it also draws some of it support (willingly or unwillingly) from people with views like this.

I also realize the other parties and leaders have their problems, of which there are many.

I don't think the float was particularly effective or brilliant by any means. It's also not a positive thing to be politicizing summertime community events.

Having said that, what specifically is racist about impersonating a politician who wears a turban and has a beard? It's not like the guy was in blackface and he doesn't appear to be doing anything to belittle or mock Sikh culture (if this is not the case then I'll stand corrected).

I wore an orange turban and kurta to visit the Golden Temple and I'm not Sikh. Am I a racist?

I think you wore a turban to respect the culture. Pretty sure the guy dressed up in a turban sitting in a manure spreader isn't coming at it from the same angle lol.

Did you wear an orange turban and kurta in a parade for 'entertainment' purposes?

You're smart enough to recognize the difference. But if this is not the case then I'll stand corrected.

If one wants to dress up as Jagmeet Singh for the purposes of impersonating a politician, how would they do it otherwise?

Its a parade - not some local improv show. You don't need to dress up as the guy for a parade.

Here is a better question. You're the intended audience for the joke. Was it funny?

If someone wants to dress up as Prasad Panda and make it clear they were impersonating Prasad Panda, and not another UCP MP, how would they do it?
