Anyone know what happened to the venue outside of High River? It was the one that had Big Sky and Another Roadside Attraction. Every time I drive past and see the tunnel that goes under hiway 2 I wonder why they don't have concerts anymore, because it was awesome.

I (barely) remember seeing Ziggy Marley open for the Hip back in '94(?). Fun times.

This thread is my happy place.

My buddy has a quintessential Canadian rock story when he was tossed out of a Matthew Good Band show for crowdsurfing and then had Zuckerbaby sneak him back in like reverse Navy Seals.

I also remember a Matthew Good Band/Moist double headliner show at Max Bell. Christ what a time to be alive. The new Moist album (yes, there's a new Moist album), is curiously strong for a band that hasn't been together for the better part of 15 years.

Yeah Moist was a bit on the lighter side for me (more of a punk/grunge fan in the 90s), but I did like some of their stuff and remember really liking the song and video "Push" when it came out. I saw them open for Neil Young at the Dome in the 90s and I was more there for Moist than Young hah. I'll check out the new album - thanks Russic.

It wasn't ever a commercial radio hit but one of my favorite hockey related songs was put out in 1996 by Chixdiggit "I Feel Like Gerry Cheevers : Stich Marks On My Heart" While down at Megatunes to pick up the new Sebadoh or Pavement album why not throw in Chixdiggit. Good local college rock!

Cheevers' iconic stitch-pattern goaltender mask came after a puck hit him in the face during practice. Cheevers, never one to miss an opportunity to skip out of practice, went to the dressing room. Bruins coach Harry Sinden followed him to the dressing room, where he found Cheevers enjoying a beer and smoking a cigarette. Sinden told Cheevers, who wasn't injured, to get back on the ice. In jest, John Forestall, the team trainer, drew a stitch mark on his mask. Ever after, any time he was similarly struck, he would have a new stitch-mark drawn on. The mask became one of the most recognized of the era, and the original mask is now on the wall of his grandson's bedroom.

I still have very fond memories of Another Roadside Attraction. Such a great lineup and still one of my favourite concert experiences yet.

I loved 90s rock, but in terms of strictly Canadian groups during that time, I'd have to say Sloan is at the top of the list.

Whoever said Tragically Hip...no. Possibly the worst band to ever go sort of mainstream.

Gordie's voice is going a little, but they can still do it. The show they headlined with 54-40 and Matthew Good at the Stampede a few years ago was awesome.

Yeah I worked their concert in Dead Rear yast year, and they were tight, but they were not the same band. But, sadly I am not the same UCB that listened to them in the early 90's.........Fully Completely was the sound track to my tour in Yugo. It will always hold a spot in my heart.

Gob. Their 90's stuff was more punk than pure rock, but they gained more commercial success as the years went on.
