seriously though, its cool to add a kid that you know will fit into the group and for the team, its great to know the player who's coming in.
Peters was undoubtedly consulted, so good to have players that already know his system to some degree

Treliving says "strong, strong concerns" about their ability to sign Fox.
It was made clear there was going to be a situation there from Fox's representative.

Treliving admitted Fox signing concerns were real and he probably wasn’t going to sign.

I agree, I'm not a Ferland fan, but you can't just treat him as a UFA to analyze this deal. There's a whole summer, a season and a trade deadline still remaining. He's not a zero value asset.

Treliving on 960 said Fox's representative made it clear they were going to have a situation here (meaning he wasn't going to sign)

This trade would have looked even more awful if Dougie was given 1st unit PP time like he deserved. He still led the league in goals as a defenceman.

There you go folks. Fox was not going to sign.
And I got absolutely hosed for calling it 50/50 he would sign.

Treliving says they keep track of all their players on and OFF the ice, but he is going to keep it internal. (with respect to Dougie)

Play them both with Giordano for a season and I doubt the gap would be as large as people think.

Treliving also just said Dougie is a terrific player but they take everything into consideration on and off the ice.
Then suggested Dougie said something to him in their post-season meeting or asked to be traded? Odd choice of words, but that was the implication.

Definitely seems like something was up behind the scenes.

Swedish players do take longer to develop, look at William Karlsson and Backlund. Lindholm already has two 40 pt seasons and plays a fast two way game. Also Hanifin is a great skater and more mobile then Hamilton. Flames are taking a page out of the Knights book here. Puck retrieval and speed.
