Gusev is looking like a potential excellent add. He is demanding a one way contract, but with the RW depth on this team I'd be totally fine with that. Overpay to get him, give him a real money 2 year 'show me' contract, and for once we can get a Chicago, Rangers style 'out of nowhere' player.

The Calgary Flames are not going to trade Travis Hamonic.

Vegas can’t take any cap back, so we would need to trade someone else to another team (maybe even two players off our roster)
Also Vegas is in our division so wouldn’t want to trade with a team they are likely to meet in the playoffs if they improve that team
ALSO Gusev looks really good but there is really no guarantee he is a better NHL player than Frolik (who I assume we would need to part ways with to make a Gusev trade happen). He hasn’t played a game yet and the leagues are very different. Shipyachov had similar production and wasn’t good enough to stick.
It’s not the one way contract that’s an issue, it’s eveyrhing else

They would be foolish not to entertain it. A pending UFA who's nearly 30, a RHS so he carries value leaguewide (even though his shot couldn't hit the side of a barn), injury prone, a mediocre skater, no offense to speak of, and ultimately our worst defenseman at zone entry denial. They should be shopping him all around the league.

Injury prone? As in, steps up for teammates and gets his jaw broken?

I wouldn't put anything past Treliving at this point. We have seen throughout his tenure that he's willing to throw darts and it's worked out well at times and not so much others. After yesterday I feel anything is possible as I never thought he could make yesterday's trade. I still can't believe it happened as it's just such a bad move.

Maroon for one. He had been bumped down to the bottom lines in ANA and then was great in EDM
Chiasson for another.

I’m wondering if part of the desperation of the Neal trade was because Tre can’t move Frolik or Stone?
Stone is a bottom Pairing guy earning 3+ million a season and a scratch at the end of last season for the Flames. Can’t see anyone jumping on that without 50% retained. Maybe at the trade deadline there will be a suitor.
I’m less confident we will move either and be forced to part with an asset (eg Hammer) to fit Chucky in.

I think the trading Neal has a lot more to do with James Neal himself. Dude just wasn't a fit here. Boomer and others have commented on how unhappy Neal was with his position on the team, and there's some hinting towards relationship issues between Neal and Peters.
Best to just get a player like that out of the dressing room.

They should move Stone. How does he even look Lucic in the eye now. Lucic exposed him 2 years ago. Although, maybe Stone is ok with being on the same team.

Neal scored at a 25-point pace last year in a historically unlucky season in terms of SH%. 5%.
Puljujarvi scored at a 16-point pace but still shot 8%
Lucic scored at a 21-point pace but shot over 8%
If Neal rebounds to even a 35/40-point guy with McD/Drai/RNH, Puljujarvi continues busting, and Lucic continues to decline... it could look ugly.

Oh you have no idea how much more ridiculous it got on here regarding Neal trades
People were saying they wouldn’t do Neal for Lucic plus 8th overall
I feel bad for people who are so biased and out of touch with what flames players are really worth. Every trade must be insanely disappointing when you were expecting teams to want Hanowski

People aren’t out of touch with what Flames players are worth. The Flames just have a history of bailing other teams out of their problems, without reciprocity.

What’s the story there? I don’t recall an incident between the 2?
