Yah, that's how I kind of feel too lately with the Jays run. I'm still just a casual fan, but actually sitting down and watching a full baseball game wasn't as terrible as I thought. Of course, I'll still probably never watch a regular season game, but come playoff time, if Jays are in it, I don't mind catching the games.

That being said, it's still Flames first, and switch to baseball game during commercial breaks / intermission. Unless they get blown out 5 or 6 nothing by the end of the first. Then we'll see depending on how angry I am lol.

Yeah, that was the first baseball game I have watched since the 2004 World Series, and I was mesmerised.

Anyhow, this game makes me nervous, and I have been fairly underwhelmed by the Flames so far this young season. I think the most glaring problem has been Giordano's and Hamilton's less-than-spectacular play so far, but I am confident it won't last long. Here's hoping they have a great game tonight.

...and screw the Jets. With any luck, this will be the last time we have to hear or read about that abomination until the next time the Flames play them.

I used to make the same jokes all the time, couldn't pay me to sit down and watch an entire baseball game. But the Jays the last few months have completely changed my opinion of the sport, even 3 up 3 out innings have the potential for some drama, and that 7th inning last game rivals any Flames moment I've ever experienced, just totally insane

Baseball has some of the coolest moments in sports and awesome highlight reels but sitting through an entire game is near impossible unless you have something else to occupy yourself with. At least for me.

We had the baseball game on at the office the other day and that is the perfect way to watch baseball. While doing something else. Just work away and when there is an important moment happening you look up. Even then it can take 5 minutes before the one play actually resolves itself with all the foul balls and the time it takes the pitcher to throw.

I am a hardcore Blue Jays fan, probably spend more time reading and writing on forums about them than the Flames (pretty close though). Even saying that, I have a hard time watching every pitch of every inning, and like doing something on the side while watching. It helps me get something else accomplished during the game, where as with watching hockey, I can only do that while there is a commercial or intermission, and in most cases dont even bother with anything else during the game. Just a different viewing experience really.

I won't be surprised if the Flames lose the next three. But I will still love them.

We'll see who the real fans are soon enough.

Flames just barely beat a very bad YVR team.

Jets can grind out a win if Flames take a period off, just like the Blues.

Oiler can win a track meet. Flames D is discombobulated. Goalies are porous.

Caps will have a motivated Ovie. And can also grind out a win.

The only loss in that three that bugs me is Oilers.

Anyone who watched that last game against Texas would never, ever say something like this.

Sounds like you don't love them or you wouldn't be selling them so short..

Blues are a good team and the Flames came damn close to forcing overtime.

Any fan who thinks they will lose to a winless Oiler's team has no faith whatsoever in their team. You should feel bad about that. It's 3 games into the season.

Then why don't you score a few goals?

I've played baseball since I was 4. Was a huge jays fan growing up watching them win the world series and played competitive baseball until AAA and I cannot stand watching a game unless:

A - I'm at the diamond

B - the Jays are in the playoffs.

I feel like a 11 year old kid again.

Some people insist on being close minded. Blew my mind how many people in Calgary refuse to entertain the concept of turning on a Baseball game. You could bring up that their games since September have been blowing away a typical Leafs vs Habs season opener in ratings, or that it's the best offense in baseball, the first playoff appearance since 93, the best team in the league, but they're just convinced baseball is boring. Their loss

First off, I'm not superstitious at all. Secondly, I'm lying about that first thing.
Three games played so far this year. Losses when HD makes the GDT. A win when Cali made it. Either tonight is the trend buster or Cali makes all the GDT from tomorrow on until forever. Especially tomorrow.

That's fine. It just means that some days the GDT might consist of 3 simple words: "Go Flames Go".

I'm making tomorrow's anyhow.

Flames need a reality check, this bad start will be good for them.

It will give Bob ammo to remind them that they are not that good, yet. And in order to win they need 60 solid minutes every game.

The Blues game flattered them.

If the Oilers spank the Flames it should motivate the team to play a lot better. My guess is they will stink today and tomorrow, will play great but lose against the Caps and after that it will be smooth sailing.

I don't see them coming out of this rut tonight or tomorrow, but yeah I hope I am wrong.

I could go on for hours about how while I understand your sentiment, your lack of understanding for the game is ultimately why you would have this (incorrect) opinion, as is with most sports any individual would find boring.

Not going to get into it on a hockey forum though, so I digress. Personally I'll have the Flames game on the TV and the Jays game on the lap top. Yay multi-tasking!

Flames haven't seemed to be as fired up this year as last.... and I can't see that lasting long. Tonight they fly out of the gates back on track. I'm going to say 5-2 good guys. GO FLAMES GO!!
