Wilder Jr. is at the top of my wishlist. But trades are just so rare in the CFL, especially for Calgary. I'm not holding my breath for reinforcements via trade.

And Don Jackson looked pretty good vs. Mtl...

Jim Popp fired. The guy has ran his course in the CFL and I would expect a total house cleaning after the season with Chamblin and most of his staff shown the door. This organization really needs to get the next hire right as bad teams like the Argos bring down the CFL product.

Not surprising. He was awful in Montreal and Toronto were idiots for picking him up

Put it this way, Anthony Calvillo and Ricky Ray made Jim Popp look like a genius. Once they left, the real Jim Popp was exposed.

Good hire for Toronto. If there is anyone that can resurrect that franchise on and off the field it's Pinball.

^^ Yup, Pinball is awesome. Heard him give a motivational talk in person one time in Toronto. Of all the former players turned GM's around the league, Pinball is someone I can get behind (in addition to Huff of course).

Who doesn't love Pinball? Great hire for PR but he's never ran a team in any capacity or scouted that I know of. He will need a very experience director of player personnel or it could be more of the same from this organization.

The Argos have also hired John Murphy as VP of Player Personnel:

Quote:
After serving in a consulting capacity for the team for the past several months, John Murphy was named Argos vice president of player personnel today. Prior to his work with the Argos in 2019, his 15th season in the CFL, Murphy served for three seasons as Saskatchewan Roughriders assistant general manager.

Prior to joining the Riders, Murphy served two stints with the Calgary Stampeders, most recently as director of player personnel from 2010-15 after serving as director of scouting in 2007-08. During his time in Calgary the Stampeders won Grey Cups in 2008 and 2014.

So Murphy is going to be running the team for the most part. I wasn't impressed with his work in Regina but it's hard to tell how much of that was Jones.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts have discussed the possibility of a trade involving quarterback Zach Collaros.

Michael “Pinball” Clemons has taken over as general manager of the Argos. Clemons succeeds Jim Popp who was fired from the role. According to sources, Winnipeg made an offer for Collaros but Toronto countered with James Franklin. The double blue have been trying to extend Collaros’ contract beyond 2019.

I'm guessing they believe he is a much better option than Streveler.

If he can stay healthy, I would agree. Collaros has had success in this league before.

Call me crazy, but Bethel-Thompson has shown flashes of pretty fine QB play for the Argos this season. I mean, he's not a long term answer obviously, but the other side of that is the Bombers wouldn't have to give up much either.

I'm all over MBT if he is available. Going after Collaros says to me the Argos are not interested in trading the former. Sadly it looks like Collaros is an upgrade on Streveler. I had hoped he could be more than a gimmicky QB.

I think Streveler could have a role on the right team/scheme. I mean he is a hell of a running back and understands defenses.

Make a package of plays for him put him in the mix at various points in a game and he could be a really nice change of pace against defenses.

Just dont ask him to throw more than 20 yards.

I’ve heard Pinball speak live and he’s one of the best speakers I’ve ever heard. His speeches to his players when he choses to do that will be epic.

I think he’s great for fan attraction but I have no idea if he can be a good GM. The league desperately needs a strong Toronto team.

That's a bit of a problem though as teams can stack the box and it's a matter of your defenders making tackles. You are right though as he simply can't throw the ball downfield with any accuracy as those interceptions against the Riders were poorly thrown balls.

People who are railing against the Neal/Lucic trade should just read the first 5 pages of this thread.

Depends on who the Stamps would be sending back to the Argos, but on the surface, I'd be down with this trade.
