Hamonic opts out of Return to Play

Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving released the following statement this evening regarding defenceman Travis Hamonic.
"Earlier this evening Travis called me to inform us that he has decided to opt out of the NHL Return to Play Program. Travis explained that due to family considerations, he has made the difficult decision not to participate in the Stanley Cup Qualifier and Playoffs.
"While we will miss Travis in our line-up, we understand and respect his decision. Our focus remains on preparation for training camp and our upcoming series in the NHL Qualifying Round."

That's your top-four for the playoffs, as it should be for the next three to five years until Gio is done. All the best to Travis and I respect his decision 1000% but I don't think he'll be back, and I think him opting out will give Brodie and Andersson more of a chance to shine... I think this increases the likelihood that Brodie stays, ultimately.

Conspiracy theory - Hamonic already has a handshake agreement to sign with the Jets in the offseason and this is part of the deal.
