Vatanen who is mostly made of glass and rarely makes a full season? I like him for his hometown but I’d be cautious on a deal...maybe a heavily games played bonus one but the guy is solidly in the bandaid boy club.

I’m with Francis that flames should start Talbot. I don’t think they will, but IMO they should.

I think it is silly to make this decision before csmp. It has been four months since either goalie has played a game. Guessing which one is the better choice today is a fool's errand.

Did you watch the clip? He clearly said that if things are equal in camp that he would go Talbot . Obviously if one of them faulters you pick the other one.

Unless Rittich is injured no way he doesn’t stay game one. He’s your guy, signed, last year you deferred to the veteran for the playoffs. Now is his turn to show his worth. I’d rather learn about Rittich now than later. Especially going into a free agent area where there are quite a few goalies available

I see no reason to not trust Rittich. He seems to falter every year, but it always coincides with an injury. He's starting fresh, assumably at 100%.

And somehow I believe he could still do it. Just leave a pack of darts and some vodka on top of the net.

...and this. So what I guess I'm saying is I don't know.
But I do like the idea of giving Rittich the chance especially because if he succeeds I'd feel more comfortable moving forward with him as the defacto #1 and if he falters there are lots of good candidates we can go after this year and there is the 12.5% chance of 1st overall so even if we lose there is a chance we can come out better for it.

Rittich seems to start strong and then tires out. After this long break I feel he should be good to go.

Tires out or has a nagging injury. The last 2 seasons he's had an injury that coincided with his drop.
His elbow this season and a knee injury suffered during the NYE 8-5 game against San Jose last season.

Thats where I sit. Not a Rittich booster in any way but he starts really strong and then fades down the stretch. And Talbot needs a rum of games to get settled in. In a play in series I dont think you can gamble too much on this.

Do border restrictions have any effect on this? I was never able to find a clear answer. Is anyone that wants to come back to play able to get into the country?

Yes. They're able to get in because it's necessary for their employment.

Nope...It’s because they’re considered “essential employees”.
