I mentioned this in the other thread. Ron Francis and Brian Leetch were Maple Leafs.

I'll always remember he was with the Oilers because of how that ended.

The summer of 2008 was coming and he was happy to be playing in Western Canada and would have gladly re-signed with the Oilers. All Lowe had to do was send him a contract offer.

At the same time, Marian Hossa was about to become a UFA. Everyone was speculating about where he'd sign and who even had the cap space to sign him.

For Kevin Lowe, the choice was obvious ... offer Hossa as much money as he wanted to sign in Edmonton... Oh, and by the way, Curtis, we can't sign your contract just yet because we need to know how much we have to spare after we sign Hossa. But, we're totally signing Hossa.

Then, free agency opens up and Darryl Sutter makes a call to Glencross, who signs a nice little 3 year deal with the Flames. Meanwhile, Hossa decides to sign a one-year deal with Detroit, in hopes of winning a Cup.

How about the Golden Brett in Arizona?

Gary Roberts in Pittsburgh (and Tampa) is one that often slips my mind. I always think he retired years before this...

Mats Naslund coming back as a member of the Bruins in the mid ninties. A career which really closely resembles that of Hakan Loob in a lot of ways the more I think about it.

Obviously Gary was too much man for the Penguins.

IIRC, Hossa wanted to sign with Chicago, but they didn’t have the cap space until Havlat’s contract was done.

So, he signed a 1 year deal, and joined the Hawks the next year.

One of the best UFA signings ever, as he was the missing piece to teaching players like Toews and Kane.

I always forget that Owen Nolan was a Wild and a Coyote. He even wore the C in Minnesota.

A couple I completely forgot :

I always thought Mullen finished his career up as a Penguin after leaving the Flames...which he did but he slipped away to Boston one year before returning to Pittsburgh

I had it in my head Nieuwendyk finished in Toronto but he actually had a strong year in Florida getting 56 pts in 65 games then retiring the next year after 15 games.

I should've remembered this one but most likely blocked it from my memory as I always liked Oates I didn't want him to have this taint on his great career.

I remember Recchi in Atlanta, but not so much the Carolina stint. Would have thought it would come up more at trade deadline time as he came through with 7G and 16P on that run.

Leclair ended with the Pens.

I always recall Luc's brief stint in PIT, and 2 years in DET, but the 2 yrs in NYR are the last thing I recall.

Does anyone else have a thing where Leclair, Recchi, and Robitaille all come to mind at the same time with each other? It's not that I get them mixed up, just that they are all about the same age and shared a lot of the same stops. The true Quebecer never played for the Habs.

I remember Vanek as a Blue Jacket really well... he was awesome for them. Same as in Vancouver. Then he signed in Detroit that summer for a second time and looked like a totally different player. He was done.

Here's Paul Coffey as a Cane.

Alex Tanguay as a Coyote.

James Wisniewski as a Hurricane. He tore his ACL 47 seconds into his first game with the team, missed the rest of the season injured, and was bought out that summer. Rough.

Brian Elliott as an Av.

43-year-old Claude Lemieux... as a Shark???

Petr Nedved as a Canadian:

Kirk Muller as a fish stick:

Tomas Haberle:

Owen Nolan as an Av:
