I've been thinking about upgrading to Sindens. Is the software difficult to configure? Does the border cause issues? Do you have the recoil unit?

I'm so tempted to upgrade to those.

I don't think I have seen any all-in-one solutions that include the Sinden guns. Certainly are a few for the AimTrack guns ($4k-6K range). Like all cabinet kits the prices are all over the map depending on what you want. Rough math for a solution that you still need to build but is pretty plug-and-play:

- 32" Cabinet that is pre-wired and includes a screen is probably $2000 CAD delivered
- plug and play PC based system like and Arcade-one ($600 - $1200 CAD) depending on model
-Sinden guns (2-player kit is ~$450 CAD delivered).

you would need to build that cabinet but everything else is pretty much plug and play. Guns would require a 10 minute calibration but its very straight forward.

I have 2 of the recoil guns. The recoil is pretty legit. A lot louder and more forceful then i expected, but you can also adjust that in the software. I have only tried them on my Arcade-one PC and it is pretty pre-configured and plug-and-play. The white boarder isn't great but I prefer it to a light-sensor bar like the Aimtracks have. Once you start playing you don't really notice. The cameras seem very accurate and consistent. My cabinet has a black surround, so i don't really run into any issues...if you had a white cab or surround, I can see some problems for the camera in the gun as it relies on that contrast to detect the screen area and size.

The sinden software was really simple for me. Their is a lot you can configure in it but I only really had to adjust the alignment...whole process was 10-minutes start to finish for 2 guns.

I have not tried to set them up with any of my other configurations (Pi, CoinOps, BigBox) but it seems like a pretty supported item across the board now.

Are Sindens the best guns out there, or just the latest? Arcade Guns weren’t really a consideration, but now rethinking…

They're the latest and seem to be the "best" from the many videos I watched pre-purchase. I think the fact that they don't require a sensor bar, which can suck to mount in a discreet way in a cabinet, is a big thing.

Took 3-4 months for my guns to arrive though as they are pretty popular.

very nice work...assuming 8 way joysticks, have you considered adding a 4 way in there somewhere? looks like you have room for a small "pacman" stick

You could always add it later

Pacman, donkey Kong , games of that era won't play well with a 8 way stick...just an idea, added one to mine years later.

This project is so f'ing dope. I would have no idea where to start with something like this; only thing I'm good at is putting quarters into the machine and playing it. Major props to you cam!!

I haven't really looked into it but I've seen good things online about the 4 to 8 way restrictor switches too

Build is looking nice!

I have not tried Servo-Stiks but seems like a slick way to go for the 4/8 way problem. Sticks auto-select based on the game. I recall you were going with some Ultimarc hardware and you planned on a Hyper-spin box...although probably didn't plan on LEDBlinky (no LED buttons).

Of course a dedicated 4-way (probably 2 for dual-stick games) is the cheaper and easier way to go and you clearly have room on the panel for it.
