3.8M cap, some much needed room for the Sharks if they want to re-sign players, especially Pavelski.

Or Big Joe. Thats probably right around what he'd get for 1 year.

these post-Hextall moves don't really make a lot of sense to me.

Braun is absolutely awful. If we do trade Brodie, I'd expect much more than this.

Should also help set expectations for a TJ Brodie trade

I would think Braun is closer to Stone than Brodie (not saying Stone would garner this at all, but Brodie is significantly better). Braun is not very good.

This is Comcast being impatient. They want the Flyers back in the playoffs immediately.

I'm not convinced that TJ Brodie away from Giordano is any better than Braun

So Brodie's value is closer to a 2019 & 2020 2nd rounder

Yeah market for Brodie is pretty clear now.
Trouba sets the high bar, and Braun should be the absolute low.
So I think the market for Brodie will likely be something like a late first or 2 second round picks based on these last two deals.

Brodie is a significantly better player than Braun. This sets his market as the majority of us thought it would be, which is a 1st round pick + other asset.

Your lack of hockey knowledge combined with your abrasive arrogance on this board is absolutely outstanding.

Interesting. Was considering the flyers a potential landing spot for Brodie that now looks closed.
I'm hoping the flames can land a late 1st rounder for him, but would be fine with a 2nd rounder + another 2nd rounder or B-Prospect.

That makes me feel better. Brodie is a significant step up from Braun. If this is the return Braun got, I think we are going to get a fairly substantial return on Brodie.

That's a good return for a 32 year old Braun. Sets the table for a decent return for Brodie if the Flames are intent on moving him. Another typical Flyers head scratcher. They look like a team going all-in on next season.

Braun is closer to a (healthy) Stone than he is to Brodie
Surprised he got that much but it’s not out of line when you see what teams give up for Lovejoy, McQuaid etc

There's an inverse relationship between trade deadline values due to scarcity and free agency values due to glut.
Trade Deadline is a sellers market, free agency (or the lead up) is a buyers market.
In the abstract, if Braun gets a 2nd and a 3rd in value, then Brodie should receive a similar return. However, with the excess of available defenders on the market (i believe 4 have been traded in the last 48 hours), the market for teams looking to acquire defenders has shrunk.
Timing the market is as important a factor as the quality of player you're looking to trade IMO, and the more defenders that get moved, the lower return you should expect for your middling asset.
There are more players than there are seats for this game of musical chairs. You don't want to be left standing when the music stops.
It looks like there's one less team interested in the services of a TJ Brodie today than there was yesterday. With the Rangers picking up Trouba, there might be 2 less teams interested than yesterday.
With Edler reportedly testing free agency, there is potentially another suitor gone as well.

agreed, it's a rough year to be trying to move Brodie. Aside from the tradable dmen that have already moved, and are on the market, there's plenty of decent fill in options on the FA market also...
- Gardiner
- Myers
- Edler
- Stralman
- Engelland
- Hainsey
- del Zotto
- Benn
- Nemeth
- Mcquaid
- Polak
- Gunnarson
- Petrovic
- Methot
- Lovejoy
- kronwall
Naturally, some are 5-7 guys there, but definitely guys that teams may be wiling to take a shot on, that don't cost much cap wise, and don't require assets.

I'm not going to be surprised at all by what Bodie's nets in return because I have no clue about what his true value is.
He could go for anything from a 1st to a combination of later picks and I won't be stunned.
I simply have no clue how other teams perceive him.
