Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) already have the blue and green colors, Thunderbird name, and the west coast carving logo thing going.

Colorado and Detroit were in the same conference then. At a time when that meant more than divisional play.

Seahawks have it too. Nothing stopping the hockey team from doing something like this. Use the native word for Thunderbird, or buy the name from the WHL team. Could also be the Totems.
Seattle Metropolitans or Seattle Totems? What Emerald City fans want to name the 32nd NHL team
It's never too early to speculate what Seattle's new hockey team will be called

Quote:
Earlier this year, the Seattle Times polled fans over the course of a month asking what their vote would be regarding the team name. Over 140,000 votes were cast and a number of popular options emerged. Four team names advanced to the final few rounds of voting, with two going head-to-head in the fourth and final round. Here's how things shook out:
- 1st place: Seattle Sockeyes (37,543 total votes)
- 2nd place: Seattle Totems (30,140)
- 3rd place: Seattle Metropolitans (24,859)
- 4th place: Seattle Steelheads (18,700)
There were several other early-round options, including the Kraken, Sasquatch, Freeze, Emeralds, Pilots, Grunge, and Cascades. Also, the Fightin' Geoducks. (Yes, really.)
|
I also like Cascades.

I can see myself really hating this Seattle team. Big division upgrade from Arizona.
BTW when I made an expansion Seattle team in EA sports, I called them the Seattle Skates. On top of being typical hockey footwear, a skate is also fish similar to a ray.

Could go with a reference to Seattle’s most famous product:

The only issue I had with the Vegas draft was the ability to make "trades" for assets while returning abstract "promises" to not select certain players. It's really no different than selecting a player and then trading the player back right away, which I don't think is allowed.

I love it! Their logo could be a skate:

I won't be against offering a first to take Neal. Even if he starts lighting it up soon, by 2021 he might be on his last legs

I love Seattle. My favorite NFL, MLB and (used to be) NBA team reside there. I love that they’re finally getting a team and it soothes the pain a little bit that if Calgary loses a quality player in the expansion draft, my now 2nd favorite team will be getting a good player.

I'd want to cheer for them if they weren't in our division. My second favourite NFL team is Seattle but I just can't cheer for a divisional rival in the NHL

I'm not a fan of them choosing the red, white and black color theme, because there's already a ton other teams who wear similar colors:
Ottawa, New Jersey, Calgary, Carolina, Detroit, Washington. To a lesser extent, Montreal, Columbus.
Don't they want to distinguish themselves a bit?
Go with Yellow or Purple maybe.

Sure, Engellend is a good player but he was an aging UFA anyway so hardly a loss. The next expansion draft could see the Flames possibly lose a key young piece.
Hard to predict 2-3 years out but Gio, one of Brodie/Hanifan, Andersson, Valimaki and Kylington... now pick three.
