Top 5 Best Value Contracts for 2019/2020
Here are mine:
1) Andrei Vasilevskiy: 3.5M aav - only elite goalie making under 4m this year
2). Alex DeBrincat: less than 1M aav and scored 76pts last year
3). Elias Pettersson: 3.775M aav Less points than DeBrincat last year (66pts in 71games) but he carried his lines and looks good at 3.775m for the next two seasons.
4). Elias Lindholm: 4.85M aav, 78pts last year and signed until 2024. I was trying to stay under 4M for my top 5 contracts but this one is to good.
5). Carter Hart: 0.8633M aav for the next two years. Easily has the potential to be the best steal.

Nathan MacKinnon still has 4 years left at 6.3 million.
Has averaged 98 points over the past 2 seasons.

Not really much point in comparing ELCs with other contracts.
Hard to argue with MacKinnon

I don't count ELC's as value contracts because then all the best value deals would be ELC's.
In no particular order.
MacKinnon $6.3 aav
Gaudreau $6.75 aav
Hall $6 aav
Barkov $5.9 aav
Couturier $4.3 aav
I know, all forwards but that's what came to me first. All of these guys have and will continue to drastically outplay their contracts.

I think this game is easy when you factor in players still on their ELC's. I also don't include players that have just signed an extension. So, that takes out 4/5 on your list.
There are a ton, but here's a list I thought of:
Nathan MacKinnon - $6,300,000 x 4
Aleksander Barkov - 5,900,000 x 3
Rickard Rakell - $3,789,444 x 3
Viktor Arvidsson - $4,250,000 x 5
Ben Bishop - $4,916,666 x 4
Jon Gibson - $6,400,000 x 8
Elias Lindholm - $4,850,000 x 5
Mattias Ekholm - $3,750,000 x 3
Brad Marchand - $6,125,000 x 6
Brayden Point - $6,750,000 x 3
Johnny Gaudreau - $6,750,000 x 3
Sean Couturier - $4,333,333 x 3
Lots of players I failed to mention, but there are a lot out there. I think MacKinnon, Barkov and Couturier have the best ones.

Not the biggest names but Kevin Labanc at $1 million and Casey DeSmith at $1.25 million for next 3 years are incredible values for their team.
Flames best value is probably Gaudreau but last year it was Gio IMO.

Remove ELC’s to make it more relevant.
Josi is a steal, so is Gaudreau and McKinnon. Monahan and Gio are great value no doubt, as well as Brodie, Hannifin and Lindholm.
The Flames are really well set up, of course the Lucic (well, Neal) contract is tough to swallow.

I think Big Save Dave might be up there if he can keep it going into 2020.

I dont know, if Looch and Reider can keep up this scoring pace he might be a steal!

Seth Jones at $5.4 million for three more years stands out to me as absurd.

Just now browsing CapFriendly and I see that the SJ Sharks are paying $26.5 m for three defensemen. The Flames are paying $22.4 m for seven including the current Norris Trophy winner, and have another NHL defenseman on his ELC on LTIR.
The Sharks are no good.

No mention of Pastrnak yet? Has put up 70/80/81 points and over 30 goals in each of those season and carries a hit of only $6.667M. Both Calgary and Boston get awesome value out of their top lines.
Factoring in positional importance (C & D > W) and term remaining (3+ years), some of the best value deals in my opinion have to be:
1. MacKinnon
2. Barkov
3. Couturier
4. Schiefele
5. Rielly

Both MacKinnon and Barkov are steals at those cap hits. Sean Couturier also has an amazing cap hit for what he brings.

Absolutely, and do not forget that Pastrnak got his 81 points in 66 games.
100 point pace!
