Oilers fan too. Go figure.

Here's Lanny McDonald being traded.

Doesn't this belong in the "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" thread?

Also really, CBC? Really?

Here's the Instagram account. Some of these are hilarious.

Ballard was a crazy SOB.

Lego is the perfect medium for telling The Harold Ballard Story. It's that absurd.

We think the current Oilers organization is disfunctional, or the Bill Wirtz-era Blackhawks were, but Ballard-era Leafs was truly bonkers.

It’s not so much that he did it, although it is pretty weird. It’s more that CBC did a news story on it.

With all the things going on in the world today, this was the story worth telling.

Glad you don't curate the news for me.

What’s wrong with CBC, or any news outlet, doing human interest stories?

The Barbara Frum interview with Ballard was something else. She kept herself incredibly collected.

Exactly, we don't need any fun or good news on the news.
Murder, rape and falling markets only!

It's not like there's a shortage of negative stuff in the news and internet on a daily basis if that's the kind of stuff you like to fill your day with. I think it's totally fine to make a little room for a humorous look at one of the more villainous NHL owners of our time.

If this was someone in Calgary doing the same thing regarding our cup winning team, our joking about the Young Guns Era everyone would be laughing their asses off and applauding the creativity.

Is that what I said?

Why not focus on a cat fashion show like Anchorman?

Given how uneducated and ridiculous society is they need more quality journalism and less focus on LEGO cosplay.

Because this is a hockey forum, and the Lego diorama was hockey related. That's probably why he didn't post something about cat fashion shows.

It's not even that prominently displayed on the CBC website either, so I don't get what the problem is. What are you trying to say? You just don't like human interest stories?

It's a fun puff piece, it's certainly not the first or last.

I learned a couple things about Ballard today that I didn't know. I didn't know the sauna contract. I didn't know the Beatles story. Those are hilarious. Also didn't know about the Sittler captaincy thing.

So yeah, it's LEGO, who cares?

Christ can we get through one fun thing without someone shouting "SOCIETY!!!". I'm one of the worst for it but c'mon, it's a story about a dad and his kids enjoying a toy and doing something unique with it. Just let us have it.

Is it "LEGO cosplay"? Is it brilliant satire? Is it art? Is it history?

How is one to decide?
