If backs is hurt and Lomberg gets a game who are we calling up? Obviously Czarnik comes in but do we see Lazar return for fourth line centre? That would make most sense to me

When there was about ten seconds left and the game was in the bag I was hoping one of the Flames was going to give Dumba a two-hand he wouldn’t soon forget.

They were up by two. Lomberg played a good forechecking game. I wouldn't have minded. Peters had already put pretty much everyone else out with the EN.

You know Lomberg wouldn't have passed when in the clear.

Peters also brings up multiple times that the game should have been over after the trip on Backlund

Or Dube. He's probably a better centre, although Lazar has been playing really well according to Maclean.

Johnny and Monny are good enough to carry Neal for a bit. Lindholm is as good as Backs defensively to have line #2 not skip a beat. Normally I'd say don't break whats working but there is no one else who can do the lifting that Backs does. And Beast will still have PP1 time.

I do think the hit was boaderline, I also think the refs calling by the book on lomberg was pretty puzzling considering the events prior to. Also the Kassian on Tkachuk was worse and he didn't get a fighting major. Refs typically go out of their way to not call the instigator in that situation.

Hope Backs is okay. Holy hell is Smith playing better. Great job by the goalie coach working him back into form. Huge 2 points.

Maybe, but concussions can lead to much worse than that, so I don't think it's a worse play.

Great game to be at! Smaller crowd, but seemed a little louder than I’m used to lately.

I’ve been to 3 games of their last 10. I’m a tiny bit salty that my personal record is 1-1-1.

It seems like the team is way better at receiving Smith passes than last year. Last year he'd mostly be passing to a stationary guy. Now it leads to a play a lot more.

So, when Gio was in the box for the Koivu hit, and Koivu was out in front of him nattering away, Gio shrugged his shoulders and said....? what? Was it "wanna go?" That's what it looked like to me. He didn't look like he was challenging him, just asking him if that would make him feel better. lol

I guess, but who knows at that point, with Peters, and with Bennett having a less than stellar game. And with line changes. They were rolling pretty quickly. I know I saw Mangiapane and Ryan on together earlier.

But you were right. He wasn't on.

First star of tonight's game? Peters for deciding to start Smith. That guy is pushing every right button right now.

Gaudreau was worth the price of admission. What a talent.

How did Lindholm score so few goals in Carolina? The guy looks like a natural sniper, and someone who could score 40. Unreal.

Neal not trying very hard to get to the goal scoring areas. I can't believe we're seeing his usual work ethic, especially in the offensive end.

Gaudreau uses a 65 flex? For real? Is that possible in such a short stick? I guess he's not going to Sport Chek and cutting off sticks from the rack.

That was not your run of the mill win. Great gut check win.

Peters - "Obviously it was a clean hit, there was no penalty on the play."

Dude is savage.

Flames are one point behind Preds and Avs for first in the Western Conference. Same number of games played.

The top line may be doing the majority of scoring, but the other lines are keeping the puck in the offensive zone a lot. That's good.
