If Kipper wants to fish, the Flames should do everything in their power to let him fish in peace. He has earned it.

My dream scenario: Flames let the BJs talk to Kipper. They convince Kipper to play for the Jackets, and Flames get a conditional 2014 first rounder from the BJ's if they make the playoffs next year. If they don't make the playoffs, it turns into a second rounder. Sounds like overpayment from the Jacket's side, but maybe Feaster can catch them while they are desperate for a playoff run.

Best Finnish goalie ever to play the game, gut wrenching to see him go. Hometown boy, grew up watching him play for TPS since he was 18... oh the memories.
Think he would have still had more left in the tank but I guess those +70 game seasons finally caught up with him. Classy guy. Probably already gone fishing.

They won't give us anything to just talk to him, but there would likely be an agreement in place for compensation if they are able to change his mind.

This team has lost two of the best players it has ever had this past year, leaving behind a team without an identity. It was not a good year. There can be no "replacements" for these two. Fans of this team have to hope management can somehow repopulate with quality, character players that can not only get the job on the ice done but engage the hearts of the fan base. The two do not necessarily go hand in hand and it will probably be a long while before we see a Flames team we can feel the same way about, again. Good luck rebuilding Flames, hope you have the people on board to do the job properly.
And, all the best Kipper, I'll miss those breath-taking saves and your calm, cool, nonchalance during trying times!

love the guy, so understated: "Yeah, I am done. Told the team. No need for a presser. No big deal. See you at the lakes."

At this point, there really isn't anything to lose in letting teams talk to him. Heck, I'd let all 29 teams have a shot at him, and if one or more of those teams can convince him to play one more year with them, then talk about trading him for picks.

Why? It's not like the Flames are going to be contending with the Jackets for a playoff spot next year. What's the harm in letting them talk to Kipper? If they somehow convince him to play for them next year, the Flames can probably sqeeze a pick from the Jackets rather than lose Kipper for nothing.

Farewell Mr Kiprusoff. It was a treat watching you play the last ten years. All the best.

My fear is that Flames management now think it will be easier to get the fanbase to accept them drafting Fucale with one of the three first round picks. Kipper or not, no goalies before the third round please!

There are countless epic memories with Mr. Kiprusoff. I think The Scorpion save stands out most for me.
He did so much for the community, especially the Alberta Children's Hospital. He did it all on his own time and without any fanfare.
He's a different cat personality-wise, but I think that's why people like him so much.

End of a very long era. One of the best ever. Good time to retire from a team standpoint, more flexibility...more chances for other guys.

I"m a huge Kipper fan. I will cheer for any team he plays on. So goooo BJs if he goes there.
I became a Bruins fan after Lemelin went there.
