I love that. Classic Kipper.

Fare thee well.

If and when the Flames have a ceremony for him, I hope the only thing he says at centre ice in front of 19,000 is: "Thanks. 'Preciate it" and steps away from the microphone.

Enjoy the fishing Kipper.

Thanks for the memories, especially that save you made on Wellwood a few years back. That was the greatest save i have seen live and i don't think it will ever be beaten.

I remember that game differently than most do. Sure, Dallas had the majority of the shots on goal, and had possession the majority of the time, but aside from that Modano one you described (which was Dallas' only scoring chance of the entire game, IMO), there was absolutely no way Dallas was going to score. You weren't going to score in a million shots on goal with every shot coming from a long ways away with no screen in front.

I thought the Flames played that game great with a lead. They saw that Dallas didn't intend to go anywhere the net, and let them blow the clock by passing the puck around the outside, and take easy to save shots.

Of course, the team can be more comfortable playing that way when they know their goalie is playing well. But I honestly think that nearly any goalie in the league could have had a shutout for the Flames that night. I've never seen a team with so many shots have so few real chances to score.

You can go ahead and retire that jersey at our next home game.

He pulled us out of the dark ages and kept us in the fight far longer than we had any business being in it.

Truly the end of an era now. He meant more to me as a Flame than Iginla did.

Farewell Kipper!

I've known that this might be coming for months, and I am almost tear-eyed. What the hell.

Maybe, just maybe, the Flames will one day have an elite #1 goalie and a #1 centre at the same time.
Nieuwendyk and Vernon???

Yes, it's been a while...but it has happened

Let the guy retire as a Flame. It's clearly what he wanted.

Kipper deserves to retire as a Flame, and the Flames are classy enough to let him do it. I realize that pro sport is a highly mercenary industry, but as I said, not everything has to be about "getting an asset". If that is all a fan cares about, they are missing the entire point of sport.

Looks like BJs are going to try to convince Kipper to not retire

I wonder if that means they think Brobovsky is going to the KHL

Thank you.

I was trying hard to make this point back when the Iginla trade bandwgon was in full swing. There is intrinsic value for franchises when they do things like this. Whatever long shot asset you get in return isn't always what is best for the franchise.

If he does. Here's hoping Jay can actually fleece someone for once.
