Damn, so he wont be ready for the euros

From a premier league perspective it doesnt matter, city will always have enough oil to spend and have a top player in that position, just from an england perspective we need the young players to get real time, its shown in guys like alli, sancho, sterling, TAA, rashford etc. all getting playing time at big clubs almost right away, not 10-15 sub appearances over a full season of between 10-25 minutes each

Arsenal letting Gnabry slip through their hands is looking pretty terrible too. What a strike and Germany looking like Germany again.

shot ourselves in the foot ... again. Had an early lead and were comfortable, but somehow lost control after 30 minutes or so. Missed a couple of great chances while Isreal basically scored on every chance and then you're left wondering how the hell you lose a game like that. Basically the same #### like on Thursday against Poland, by the way.

It's frustrating. They should easily have at least 3 or 4 points from those two games, yet they somehow sit at 0 and it's basically all over already.

I think some of it is managerial inexperience.

Managing an International qualifying match is a very different animal.

5 goals for England again, but sadly players like Rose and Sterling were subject to numerous racist chants by Montenegro "fans". Sad, but I can't say I'm surprised.

Canadian Women playing Mexico today in their last home friendly before the women’s World Cup. Didn’t we used to have a thread for them?

Janine Beckie is going (already?) to be a phenomenal player for Canada. Can’t wait to see what Jordyn Huitema does this summer too

Well that's gotta be the wildest VAR yet. Portugal get awarded a penalty, ref goes all the way back to something that may have happened in the Portugese box, and then Switzerland actually gets a penalty instead.

Why did no one still pick up the nations league or euro qualifiers

Tsn has the u21 euros this summer, but not the main qualifiers?

Especially with England in it, seems like a no brainer.

I did not know this - Euro 2020 is scheduled to be held in 12 cities in 12 European countries from 12 June to 12 July 2020.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020

Quote:
Former UEFA President Michel Platini said the tournament being hosted in several nations is a "romantic" one-off event to celebrate the 60th "birthday" of the European Championship competition. Wembley Stadium in London is planned to host the semi-finals and final. The selection of the host cities does not mean an automatic qualifying berth is awarded to the national team of that nation. UEFA reasoned that the pan-European staging of the tournament was the logical decision at a time of financial difficulty across Europe. Critics have cited the expanded format (from 31 matches featuring 16 nations to 51 featuring 24) and its associated additional costs as the decisive factor for only one nation (Turkey) having put forward a serious bid.
Will this be the trend for other tournaments and Olympics?

nah it's a one-off to celebrate 60 years of Euro tournaments or something like that. It's also incredibly stupid. One semi-finalist will have to go from Amsterdam to Baku and then back to London ... stupidity and greed really know no boundaries in world football, sadly.

Doubtful. It's much easier to find multiple top tier football stadiums in Europe than modern Olympic facilities across multiple locations.

I actually don't mind it for the Euro - not that hard to get around Europe and the flights aren't that bad.

Only real issue is they should have tried to better consolidate the knockout stage to not include Baku since those flights extend to about 6 hours.

Really though that is no different than than the longest champions league flights when the Spanish/Portuguese teams have to play in Ukraine or Russia.

Baku was so well regarded for the Europa League final, that they couldn’t resist the allure!
