Shapo and Ruud are on serve in the opening set with Denis serving at 3-4. Both guys are playing fine tennis thus far.

Ruud takes the first set 8-6 in a tie-break. Denis was down 6-2 and got it to 6-6, but an ace followed by Shapo dumping a volley in the net gives the set to the Norwegian.

Quite the struggle in this 5th game of set 2. If Denis can hold serve, it will be huge.
Edit: Ruud breaks as Denis has not had a good day at the net.

Denis has played quite well today, but Ruud has been just a little bit better. Shapo needs a break as Ruud is serving for the title at 5-4 in set 2.

Ruud wins 7-6(6) 6-4. Canadian men are on a 9 match losing streak as far as ATP finals are concerned.

Tom Tebbutt sums it up nicely. Shapo's ball toss continues to be a work in progress, he's trying to get more kick on his 2nd serve, but that toss is all over the map.

Hopefully he can gain some confidence heading into Paris. Depending on the draw but I could see a quarter finals apperance.

Shapo is in pretty good form heading into Roland-Garros, he ran into one of the hottest clay guys on the tour in 2021 and Denis' serve let him down today (and his net play was poor as well). Depending on the draw, quarter-final or maybe even semi-final is possible.

How about young American Coco Gauff winning both the singles and doubles this week at the WTA event in Parma, Italy?

Tsitsipas takes the title in Lyon with a 6-3 6-3 win over Cam Norrie. I haven't seen the odds for the French Open, but I would think Greek Yogurt would likely be the 3rd favourite after Nadal and Djokovic. As NF posted a few days ago, does the French Open keep Medvedev as the #2 seed because there's likely at least 8-10 guys that I would list with a better chance of winning Roland-Garros before him (and that includes Shapo).

That's brutal he has been playing really good on clay this year. Hopefully he is 100% healthy for grass and he can make a real run at Wimbledon.
