In what appears to be a calculated strategy to sell incubators, the 'big announcement' from Niantic today is some new Pokémon babies are now available to hatch from eggs. Eggs currently in inventory can't be the new Pokémon.
Oh, and 'holiday' Pikachu may be found wearing a Santa hat.

I've had two Santa Hat Pikachu run off on me after hitting them with Ultraballs.
The first time I know I used a razzberry, and hit it with an excellent throw ultraball.
Other than that, I'm now at 127 in my Pokedex, added Dugtrio and Golem today. I have caught at least three Abra today too, down to about 26 candy needed for Alakazam. Making progress towards others too.
My last two egg hatches are a 10k Jynx and a 5k Drowzee

He has the highest flee rate other than Abra. I was curious if he'd have the hat in game or just on the nearby.

Caught some tonight. They have the hat in game.
Raichu has the hat if you evolve him.

Caught two on the way home from work.
They are wearing the hat everywhere you see them. On the map, in the nearby/sightings, in the Pokemon list (previously caught ones don't have a hat), and on their individual page.

My nephew is level 27 and still haven't seen a sandshrew.
I'm guessing that other rare pokemon will run away instantly (like the gen 2 dogs in silver/gold).

Just caught a Snorlax along Stephen Ave then kept walking, hatched an egg, and it was my first Tangela! Pretty good night!
Also I think the little park by 8th street station has become a Kabuto nest but I'm too scared to go over there alone at night and actually catch them, hahah.

Your thinking looks 100% correct
Have hatched more than 20 new eggs since the start of this glorious event, and no new Pokémon. The highlight being a pair of 10K eggs that were both Pinsirs. Thanks Niantic.

Not sure where you are, but:
Bulbasaur nest in the Park along John Laurie Blvd between 14 and 19 St.
Kabuto nest in Park downtown by 8th Street LRT station as noted a few posts above.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is an Omanyte nest in Calgary in most recent nest migration.

Barely turned this thing on during the cold snap...really not a fan of some of the changes, cant play when Im a passanger, cant play near my house.
Was fun while it lasted, but think its time to retire until they bring some real changes to the game (like trading and player battles)
