Reider coming in with a chip on his shoulder. I will not be shocked to see him and DSP signed.

Amazing things happen when you stop drinking the water, and run out of Edmonton as fast as you can.

Following Iginla's example. The leader should work the hardest.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are they testing for on say, the bicycle? If they fail then what, more cycling? If think this should be done before camp so they're really prepared for preseason. I'm dumb sorry.

I wonder how Toby finished against the Oilers players last fall.

It's more of an evaluation to get an idea of how fit the players are and not a test with a standardized score that players have to reach. I dont believe that anyone can "fail" but I have seen players get in some trouble with coaches due to being in poor shape when I was playing soccer.

Not for long. The Captain turns 36-years-old in three weeks.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Worth noting, #Flames coach Bill Peters praised Rieder today on topic of PTOs ...
"Toby Rieder looked outstanding. I haven’t been around Devante Smith-Pelly, I thought he looked good ... Andrew MacDonald is a guy who has lots of experience in the NHL, and it showed today."

The stationary bike is usually used to test VO2 max.

EDIT: I'm dumb, TheSutterDynasty below has it right - Wingate, not VO2 max.

The bike is usually resolved for the wingate test, which measures your anaerobic energy system and how well you perform short, all-out sprint tasks (obviously very relevant for hockey).

VO2max is usually done with a treadmill (aerobic capacity).

Strength 1RM or 1RM predictive testing is done with bench press and squat. There's also usually a max chin up test.

There was a good story about him today, I think it was from The Sun. About how he has really gotten in shape in large part due to his girlfriend who is studying to be a nutritionist and personal trainer . There was a pic of him at the golf tourney and dude looks lean and strong, no more baby fat.

Thanks. I found it.

Giordano is such an excellent role model for all our young players, and defensemen in particular.
