The SSR was awesome in every way...except where it really mattered. LS2, 6 speed, RWD, drop top, and cargo space. Very good.

Visually, I don’t think theres a dorkier looking vehicle in the road.

Betteridge's Law of Headlines states that a question can usually be answered no (I'm paraphrasing).

Automatics are getting better because that's where the development money is going. Manuals are only for enthusiasts, who are a tiny part of the new car market.

Oh I'm well aware.

Give me a manual ICE or give me death!

I mean, I guess I'll watch this, but this isn't really a debate. There are certain cars where you want an auto - including most cars driven by most people, which are simply boxes with seats used to get from place to place - and there are certain cars where an auto is inherently inferior, which is... almost anything I would ever want to own (I have no particular desire to own a supercar, as I'd be afraid to drive it the way it should be driven).

I note before commencing that the car he uses for the Auto is the LC500, which is a bit weird because it's not even dual clutch. But as I've said before, I really love that car and would like to own one even though there's no stick shift available. I'm confident it would be more fun with a third pedal, but it's not really necessary given what the car is, which is the purest form of Aston-destroying GT.

EDIT: There was literally nothing interesting or surprising in that video. He's just repeating over and over that it makes more sense to invest in automatics, and that automatics shift a lot faster than they used to, such that an automatic car is faster than a manual one. Is anyone arguing about any of this? Then he says "it's just as enjoyable as driving a manual" - well, it depends on the car. Are you driving an SUV? Sure. In the case of, say, a 911, no it's ####ing not.

Okay, I found a car I want to buy, but it's in Japan. Anyone use a service to get a car imported from Japan over here? I'm sure there are some in Vancouver, but if there's a local option that's recommended I'm all ears.

Give http://zenautoworks.ca/ a look, they can probably help you with what you need.

All this talk of useless suv/trucks is making me feel slightly judged. I bought an 03 Avalanche as my daily a couple months ago and I love the thing. It's 2wd, fully loaded, doesn't have the plastic cladding, its immaculate and so versatile. I always kinda wanted one and for what I need it for geez I should have bought one of these a long time ago.

Hate if you want, I love this thing! haha!

Ugh, I noticed yesterday that I must have got a rock right in the middle of the lens of one of my fog lights. I guess I have a project for a rainy Sunday

Edit: nm that looks LHD assuming that's the display hump behind that windshield glare.

It's not that specific car anyway, that's just a picture of the same one. The one I'm looking at is LHD.

Anyone ‘sell’ a car to a dealership, not trade-in or finance etc? I’m thinking of getting rid of my 4 year old car (no concern with being upside down etc.). Dealership tells me a concern I had them check for warranty is normal, but I don’t believe it so I can’t in good conscience sell it privately, and I don’t really want to deal with that ####.

I’m pretty damn sure I know there isn’t any instance where I would get market value.

I have, obviously you gotta sell it to them less profit and risk. It’s pretty much trade in value.

Make sure to upsell them on the undercoating when you do.

Yeah, you're not getting market value from a dealer unfortunately. Depending on what your vehicle is, some dealers may be willing to take it on consignment or buy it off you. My Aston was at Kulu as a consignment, not inventory.
