I was listening to Brandon Morrison on the radio this morning talking about the Canucks, but it really applied to the current Flames too.
He talked about how needing to think about your play means you're already too late at this level.
It has to be instinctual where you know where your line mates are, what to do in each situation and act immediately without any hesitation.
You can definitely see the Flames have this problem right now. Nothing is happening at a fast enough tempo and it's causing breakdowns throughout the game.
Being a split second off all the time over 60 minutes and through all of your lines really adds up.
If coaching isn't at least part of this, there's no purpose in having coaches.
