You are expecting pure mediocrity if you think that was a good 2nd period for the Flames.

That period was all BSD.

The Flames have scored 3 goals in 5 periods on a 3rd string goalie that Leafs fans despise and have been completely outplayed 5v5.

The Flames are incapable of doing anything with the puck.

The only positives are the PK (which has been flat out incredible) and BSD. Maybe can also point to the fact they've been somewhat opportunistic on the PP, although I'm honestly not sure if they've had more scoring chances on the PP than the Leafs have had shorthanded scoring chances.

I heard different on an Oiler broadcast. McDavid skates faster than a MacInnis slapper.

The Flames have tried a lot of stretch and cross ice neutral zone passes which were broken up. Lots of intercepts in the O-zone as well. If they clean that up the can have some offensive time.

They’ve not been hanging back on zone exits - they’ve turned the puck up kick pretty quickly, or tried to anyway. They just aren’t executing.

This is by far our biggest problem. I've said it before, but I can't believe how hard this team has to work to score a goal.
Nothing comes easy.
I don't know if it's a lack of confidence, a system thing, lack of talent, but it's hard to watch.

The only time you have a moustache like Matthews is if you lose a bet.

Good shift by the Money line, too bad he was so slow at that last attempt, he was in a good spot.

Outstanding shift by the 1st line.

The number of clean o-zone entries just looks super low to me, they never just skate the puck in and retain it and have pressure. It's a short pass at the blueline and then try to retrieve whatever mess that makes (cuz it never gets taken cleanly).

First line has some good pressure. Seeing a little bit of chemistry starting to develop between Gaudreau and Bennett on the passing in tight quarters - they know where each other are.
