I really like Matthew Phillips, but I picked Nikolaev here. This was a sneaky good draft, and I think he is going to be a future impact NHL player.

Ya I just cant go Phillips here quite yet, he's got the points but I just dont see sustained NHL time for him. Hope he proves me wrong.

Voted Phillips, but I like little Z's 2-way game more. However, Phillips by a hair in this round for me as he has been reducing the question marks about how his skill may translate in the NHL. Gifted offensively without question, and this should be a huge year for him in Stockton.

Edmonton's horn is just ghastly. It sounds ugly.

I went with Illya Nikolaev, but there are many good answers here ... Phillips, Pospisil, Zavgorodniy, Koumontzis

Nikolaev has the full tool set, is used to playing with elite players, and seems the most projectionable in my mind compared to other guys in this range of players that have hope but also warts.

Pospisil for me...you cant teach size or crazy. He has both and adds an ability to play the game as well. Clearly needs some development, but if he has the right attitude about it, I dont see any way he doesnt get a good shot at an NHL career based on the whole package.

gets very subjective from here, as everyone else is pretty far away.

voted Gillies because, while everyone is a longshot, he is closer to being in the room than any of the others, by a fair margin

I voted Phillips this year because he had a good rookie AHL campaign, and I predict he’ll be around a point per game next season based on how he trended last year.

Next, I will pick Nikolaev, and then I will pick Kouzmontis (forgive me if I butchered the spelling).

Phillips

Pospisil

Glen Gawdin

Gawdin can't be that far behind Phillips. He may be a year older but he put up the same amount of points as Phillips. He's much bigger than Phillips too

Phillips, then Nikolaev, then it really opens up for me. I'm still high on Tuulola, but have really liked the progression of Koumontzis and Zavgorodniy as well.

Phillips had a very good ahl year from a low pick. Tulolla brings a presence with skill but so does pospisil. Nikoliev is a standout for his country but is 2 years away and not in your control but may be a sneaky good pick like i think.

A lot of good dilemmas for a team without a lot of picks the last couple if years and no mention if wolf yet who has better numbers where he is than anyone left.

Quality post, but there is no such thing as a "good dilemma."

Perhaps i should clarify. I mean more to who gets elevated and who stays where they are. I think a lot if guys could be in the ahl based on skill but not overlooking the entire prospect base will stay where they are this year. Were no longer moving guys because of need but can let them ply thier craft as top minute getters in juniors. I believe it points to a certain maturity if our drafting system. Were elevating post 4th round picks on a steady basis.

Yeah, that's where I went too. He's had NHL experience and you just never know about goalies.

Gillies had a red hot stretch to end the season too. He may have gotten over that hip injury which seemed to derail him for 1.5 seasons.
