Going to Fernie next weekend. I saw it had over 4 meters of snowfall this year. Has anyone been out there yet?

I was there last week when they got a 33cm dump. Kimberley also in great condition although not as good as Fernie. Between Fernie and Kicking Horse I think they have the most snow in NA this year. Surprisingly not as busy as you would think either.

Snow-forecast.com says they are getting more also!

Both Fernie and Whitefish are in awesome shape. Fernie has a base of 180 cm and Whitefish is sitting at 193 cm.

Whitefish got another 18cm last night. sitting at 203 now. I love Fernie for skiing and mountain biking.
Whitefish, IMO is the best family hill around, and if you know where you are going you can find some awesome tree skiing. For $50 you won't get a better hill. My wife took my little guy who is 3 and it cost $10 total. The hills the beginners go on, don't impact the higher level skiers in any way. Unlike louise where everyone funnels down to the bottom. Also, the town is awesome. Good restaurants and bars, and shopping for the wives. Plus 95% of the locals are happy you are there. They recognize the impact Canadians have on the town. It's an fun place to go for a long weekend.

Also 59CMs at Lake Louise in the last week not including today! Weather warning at LL as of now. Picking up more snow this week. By Thursday to Sunday going to be -4 to -6 range. Can't remember a year with so many perfect storms!

Lake Louise had 44 runs open to start the day and are now up to 67. No rock garden yet as they are still working through all the new snow. Closed all day yesterday so today/tomorrow will be pretty fresh out there. Gravity is really pulling me in that direction. No new snow expected but surely this is the best conditions of the year out there.

I just paid to go with my daughter's grade five class. While we are only hitting Canyon she is beside herself with excitement. She has been once before and picked it up really fast (she says it is just like skating). I am happy at the prospect of a new ski buddy.

Good for you! I've had my 7 year old daughter skiing for 3.5 years now and my 3 year old son has been going every weekend

It's a great thing for kids to get involved in

Thanks, I can't wait. I hope to get her out to the mountains before the end of the season.

Up next is the boy, he want to board.

Some good powder there, but some runs have some rocks sticking out still. Not sure what level you're at but watch out for the double black that comes off the blue (I think there's only one) as that ones still really rough. It's closed off at the top but if you cut through the trees you might miss it.

It's all good, my biggest problem will be splitting time on my skis and board.

I just want him out on the hill.

Too bad powder blows Lake Louise still has a fair amount in the bowls so spent a lot of time on paradise but front is still rock exposed in many areas. Larch also has lots but upper rock garden is roped off. Likely won't go back until spring and will check the wind forecast first

Kids ski free this weekend at both Louise and Sunshine with the purchase of an adult ticket. Includes Costco tickets as well.

Ya. Was skiing mostly top of the world under the chair at sunshine yesterday. Some "ski instructor" led his group right in front of me forcing me to veer off and of
Course I hit a rock patch. Took a large chunk out of my brand new gotamas. Heading into ski cellar on 17th for repairs

I was at Fernie on friday. Terrible conditions all round. Very icy. Couldn't find a single soft spot. That hill is also dirty as hell. Debris everywhere and litter all round. Seriously, who the F drops beer cans from the chair lift? #######s.

Went to Castle the next day and it was a night and day difference. Wow, even for all the lack of snow it was awesome. Nice soft runs everywhere, and the runs off the red chair had some awesomely wicked conditions. Hopefully the mountains get a nice snowfall this week.
