Default Should I move back to Calgary?

In the tradition of me having my own personal meltdowns on CP, well, here's another one.

I hate Vancouver, I've always hated Vancouver. It's too expensive, too dark, too rainy here. The people suck. The sports teams sucks. The usual attractions are too full of people. Nobody wants to spend money on anything except for housing.

My partner and I make a lot of money together. Like a lot. Like if I told my 21 year old self my household income now, but also said that I couldn't afford a townhouse in Vancouver, he would punch me in the face.

So we've talked moving. We've both moved around before. We know how hard it is, how stressful it is, and what a risk it is, but the thing is, we just can't see ourselves staying in this grey dump of a town.

So Calgary? How's it doing these days

EDIT: CANNOT AFFORD A TOWNHOUSE

Pretty normal. Good place to live if you don't leave your house a lot for anything other than the occasional bite to eat or grocery runs.

Everything else is at minimum a 40m round trip travel commitment.

Subtle brag, nicely done.

If you move back you can finally buy me a beer.

There are inner city neighbourhoods. I lived in one for like ten years.

What's with the not-so-subtle money brag during a time when many Calgarians are unemployed? Was that necessary to ask the question? Weird flex.

This isn't helpful. You are being absolutely unhelpful.

Oh god. You are a good argument not to move back to Calgary.

Household income is a huge factor in determining where to live. It'd be impossible to give useful information without taking it into account.

Was gonna comment, what does the having lots of money comment have to do with the question other than a chance at internet flexing?

I never even said how much money I was making. I could be a total rube and think that $35,000 was a lot of money. CP is the online HUB for people subtly bragging about their income. Wanna run a poll?!

I will only move if I can share a lot with Fuzz and tell him to grow a beard every day no matter what his wife says.

I think it’s fair to assume if he can afford a nice place in Vancouver, he can afford Calgary. Without the double-brag on the income

I mean relative to Vancouver, even Calgary's inner city isn't nearly as as walkable.

Calgary is a fine city. Outside of the weather there's not really much bad things you can say about it. Not a lot has changed outside of a lot of retail closings. It's always going to come down to your tolerance for Calgary's can snow at any time of the year weather.

I lived in Vancouver, Penticton and Calgary. The grey skies were too much for me.

I like living here the most, but would consider having a recreational or retirement property in BC.
