Default Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2021 nominees announced

https://vote.rockhall.com/

As it's really a music hall of fame and not just a rock hall of fame I would vote in all of the following:

New York Dolls
Foo Fighters
Iron Maiden
Tina Turner
Jay-Z
Devo
LL Cool J
Todd Rundgren

Tina Turner has to be a lock I think.

She certainly deserves it on merit and is getting up there is years. Some of the younger acts can wait.

I'd vote RATM before Foo. But I don't see RATM being willing to give into the financial demands that getting inducted entails.

Iron Maiden is a given.

The whole not rock bands thing is weird but that ship has sailed so I guess JayZ and Tina also make it.

Other than the Grammys, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Golden Globes, the RRHOF might be the biggest sham in the history of "awards".

They should just change the name to Popular Music Hall of Fame if they want to broaden it like this. I see a bunch of pop, R&B, Heavy Metal acts and few actual rock & roll artist with these nominees.

Today I voted for: (you only get 5 a day)

Foo Fighters
Iron Maiden
RATM
New York Dolls
Devo

Probably should have voted for Tina but she'll get in anyways. Kate Bush seems like a weird choice for nomination.

I really liked Kate Bush back in the day but has she had a particularly noteworthy career overall? I’ll admit I lost track of her decades ago

She took a 12 year hiatus when she had her son. I just skimmed her wiki page, and I can't think of many more important artists. She was writing songs when she was 11.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kate_Bush

Quote:
All 10 of her studio albums reached the UK Top 10.

She was the first British solo female artist to top the UK album charts and the first female artist to enter the album chart at number one.

Bush's eclectic and experimental musical style, unconventional lyrics, and literary themes have influenced a diverse range of artists. She has been nominated for 13 British Phonographic Industry accolades, winning for Best British Female Artist in 1987, and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards. In 2002, Bush was recognised with an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Bush was appointed a CBE in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to music.

In addition to her music, her dancing has been critically acclaimed and proven influential, as well as enduring in the popular consciousness. Critics have noted her "pioneering synthesis of music and movement" and called her work "modern dance at its most powerful".

Go-Go's should be in, they were groundbreaking as far as female groups are concerned. Too early for the Foo Fighters IMO.

I’ll get roasted for complaining but Dave Matthews Band got screwed here. They broke the record last year for fan votes, were the first band to win the fan vote and not get inducted and this year not even a nom......this hall is a joke! Also, not sure how soundgarden didn’t make the noms again this year.

I think when you look at all girl bands they were at one point the bench mark. Also they probably out drugged most male bands of their generation.

I think they are a must add.

I'm stunned that Iron Maiden isn't in there already.

Kate Bush has been getting named dropped by influential rappers for a while now, I think she'll get in this time.

Iron Maiden
Tina Turner
Devo
The Go-Gos

Need some more seasoning : RATM, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z
The rest : There is nothing wrong with just being really good.

Would RATM even accept the induction? They seem like the types that would shun the acceptance.
