Good Game.. happy for Markstrom and a lot of players played well.
Bennett hasn't stopped taking dumb penalties though... must be due to his linemates.
I also think Gaudreau is a PP specialist but continues to struggle 5-5. Just can't seem to takeover a game anymore, which sucks because that used to be really entertaining.

That’s because there is way more movement.
Before the guys were static in their areas but now they move .
Even Monahan would move out of the slot area to come up higher to be a pass option.
Really good set up tonight.
So great to see Dube and Mangiapane succeed, honestly I think we have one more guy like them in Matthew Phillips on the way too.

Looked decent on the PP, but I think by the end of the year we may see Valimaki steal that spot. He just has a great ability to get pucks through to the net.

Andersson looked much better on the PP today. Although he could still improve at keeping the puck in the zone.
I'm also curious to see what Valimaki would look like in that spot.

This is a streak that will never be equaled.
Mid January and the Flames haven't lost in regulation since August 20.

The aggressive pinches by the D and sending 2 forecheckers in deep, without getting lit up on the counterattack, tells me the coaches & team are confident in their ability to dictate the game. Remember 2 seasons ago what the Flames looked like with swagger? This is going to be a fun season!

It's definitely fair to be concerned about how ineffective Gaudreau is at even strength.
Including the series vs Winnipeg and Dallas, his last 5 on 5 point was 16 games ago. A secondary assist on Brodie's goal in Florida.

It's going to be an interesting season. I'm really looking forward to seeing Valimaki's progress this year. I want to be astounded.

That wouldn’t be a bad thing, although I think I’d prefer to see Valimaki eventually replace Gio on PP2, especially if they can use him as a puck mover. Don’t really need that on PP1 with Gaudreau and Lindholm.

I thought he looked in total control tonight...saving pucks and handling the puck. A goaltender that can handle the puck is an advantage, the problem with Smith is that he gives the puck up constantly.
Will Markstrom ever be caught? I'm sure he will be it will be a net advantage unlike Smith

Shouldn’t the Gio stick slash have been a penalty shot?
