Thiem is a great player, I've been watching what he could do on the clay court for a while and he's slowly improved on hard courts starting with the US Open last year. Great final in what was a great tournament for both men and women.
So I watched the final through the link on Twitter posted here. My sons were wondering why I couldn't watch Bianca on TV. I told them usually only the Men's final are shown. Unless it's a Slam. My boys wanna know why the Men's is shown and not the Women's. They know it's sexist and wanna know why. What do I say?

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's because the streaming company DAZN bought the rights to the WTA tour so any non Grand Slam event for the WTA you have to watch there. I'm not sure why TSN or Sportsnet didn't buy the rights that I don't know. The ATP and WTA are two separate entities so they each negotiate their own contracts for sponsorship and TV rights.
The Miami women's singles draw is out and we could have a Bianca vs Kerber 3rd round rematch. As well she may have to play Osaka in the Quarters and Serena in the finals.

It's more a simple case of rights ownership.
TSN has the rights to the ATP tour (500, Masters), as well as the grand slams.
Sportsnet has the rights to the Davis Cup, Fed Cup and to the Rogers Cup individually.
DAZN has the rights to the WTA tour and ATP 250 level events. DAZN, alas, is a OTT service only. Soccer fans are going to have the same problem next year as TSN and Sportsnet have lost the rights to the English Premier League to DAZN.
Felix breaks to take set 2 6-4. Serves to open set 3.

That pathway to another QF appearance for Milos looks really good, if not ideal. It doesn't look promising for Shapo with everyone from the 3rd round on being players that will have a heyday with mediocre serving....and unforced errors! Hopefully he can catch some luck and avoid that early match against Cilic at least.

Such a bummer that Felix has to go through this qualifying run around here in Miami. You've got to think he's going to be completely fried by the time he even gets to the main draw and lengthy delays like this can be killer for lesser experienced players.

In other news; Schnur will be squaring off against Andrew Harris at the Zhangjiagang Challenger in China tonight @ 9pm. Schnur is the top seed by a wide margin and should have a great chance of finally cracking the top 100 if he takes care of business here.
